This 100-Year-Old Montreal Apartment Has Classic Parisian Details (but Unexpected Color!)
Eva Alonso Ortiz is a scientist who craves an outlet for her creativity. That’s why she gets so artistic with the decor of the 1560-square-foot, 100-year-old apartment in Montreal that she shares with her husband and their three school-age kids.
The family has owned the four-bedroom home for about four years, but before they moved in, Eva describes the space as “classic,” but with “whitewashed walls.”
“Our apartment is located in a lively neighborhood, which is a bit like a village. We spend most of our time around our apartment and often work from home,” Eva begins.
‘I like to be surrounded by color, fun decor, quirky things. I spend a lot of time in my apartment and how it’s decorated contributes strongly to how I feel,” Eva continues. “It is almost entirely decorated with Facebook Marketplace finds! I’ve spent countless hours thinking about the perfect paint colors for each room, trying out colors only to repaint over them. I aim for color schemes that feel fun, but also classical.”
Today, she describes her home with words like eclectic and colorful, and says it’s mix of styles ranging from mid-century, Parisian, classical, and Art Nouveau.
