Neven’s 600-square-foot apartment is located in a 1920s house in Pasadena that’s been converted into four units. “I fell in love with the tiling in the bathroom, the pedestal sink, the tiny stall shower, the crank windows, I could go on and on! I knew there was a lot of potential here,” Neven begins, describing the space she and her dog have rented for six months.

“It’s hard to put a label on what my space’s style is since I feel I tend to just take a bit of what I love the most from lots of sources. I think I take inspiration from old cottage-y/farmhouse spaces having grown up in the South, but I also love a mid-century vibe, so there’s definitely a mix of both. I think any time I’m moving into a new spot, my ultimate goal is for anyone to walk into my house and feel warm, cozy, and at home,” Neven continues.

Neven says she likes to keep it minimal in the bathroom. "Just some tea candles by the tub, a piece of art I found at an estate sale above the tub. Keeping the brown striped theme going on with the towels from Parachute. I'm a victim to a fancy hand soap and absolutely love Aesop Reverence."

“I’m definitely a homebody. It takes something really special to get me to leave the house. Every corner of my space holds something meaningful — whether it’s a memory, a story, or just something that makes me feel good. I’ve always loved architecture and design, so I have stacks of those books scattered all over,” Neven says.

“To me, the most important thing about your home is that it feels like yours. We all pull inspiration from outside sources, but the pieces that truly make a space special — a blanket your grandma knit, a photo of you and your friends, a ceramic piece you made yourself —those things never go out of style. Your home should reflect you and tell your story. That’s what really makes a place feel like home.”
