For four years, Araceli and her wife have been renting this 800-square-foot railroad-style apartment in Brooklyn. Located in a building from 1931, they pay $2475 a month in rent.

Araceli says that with three windows, their bedroom gets super sunny, so plants thrive. Her wife made the curtains; they’re Araceli's favorite part of the bedroom.

This is the first apartment where me and my wife moved in together,” Araceli begins. “Shortly after we adopted our two cats and I could not imagine my life without my three loveys.”

"Our kitchen is eclectic but it’s an organized chaos. We love how green it is and everything has its place," Araceli admits. Yes, that is a "catio" window you spot in the background!

Araceli says the apartment, before they moved in, definitely had potential, but not much else in the way of style. The couple had to not only find ways to add personality to the space, but since it’s a railroad-style layout, they also had to find narrow furniture.

Araceli and her wife painted and wallpapered the apartment themselves. "We purchased the sofa and the loveseat on Wayfair and the little stool was found on the street and we restored it. This is a middle room with no window in a railroad apartment, so we added a lot of lamps for some light and ambience," Araceli describes. "We love seeing our sunny bedroom from the wallpaper doorway."

After installing wallpaper, adding storage, and furnishing with a collection of vintage finds, Araceli describes the home as maximalist and cozy.

“I’m so happy to come home to my apartment,” Araceli writes.

Everything in the dining room was bought from Facebook Marketplace. "We restored the chairs because they weren’t in the best condition. The art we bought at flea markets and thrift stores and some we found on the street," she describes.
