Keeping cool during a summer heat wave is hard enough even when you’ve got your AC or your DIY ice fan cranked up to its maximum power, let alone when you’re on the go. Personal fans are must for taking the edge off scorching temperatures, as I recently discovered during a particularly brutal Palm Springs hike. And now, Aldi is bringing back a cute hands-free version that is super affordable — and may be a game-changer for your summer commute.

Aldi Is Selling a USB Rechargeable Neck Fan

Aldi’s Crane USB Rechargeable Neck Fan costs just $6 and comes in several different colors: green, navy, orange, and light blue.  I like the hands-free and portable design — unlike most personal fans, which require you to hold them in front of your face to take advantage of their cooling power, Aldi’s neck fan leaves your hands free by resting on your shoulders. The compact gadget features two fans on either side, ensuring you’re getting gusts of cool air blown on your face and neck from two angles. It’ll be great for a sweltering morning commute, a summer hike, or even just a walk around the block with the dog.

While Aldi previously sold Crane Rechargeable Neck Fans last year for $9, this year’s version is over 30% cheaper (yay for reverse inflation!) while still boasting the same look and features. You still don’t need any batteries to power your fan, as it has a super handy USB charging port on the side that you can charge whenever you need to.

Depending on whether the neck fan is in stock at an Aldi location near you, you can choose to get it delivered to your home or pick it up in store.

Amazon Is Selling a Worthy Neck Fan Alternative

If you don’t have it in stock near you or you want an option that’s backed with great reviews, check out Amazon for a portable neck fan that’s currently on sale for $25.64. It’s quite a bit more expensive than the Aldi version, but Gulaki’s Bladeless Portable Neck Fan comes with three different speeds, a 360-degree airflow, light-up LED lights, and a bladeless design (which is great for people with long hair).

There are hundreds of happy customers raving about its power and “really quiet” design, with one person saying they swear by it for everything from doing yard work to baking in the kitchen. Many people also called out its “good battery life” and quick charge, calling the personal fan a “game-changer [for] those hot days.” Plus, the light-up design is an extra bonus for nighttime activities or runs.
