If you’re wanting to dip your toes into the tiny house game, Amazon is now selling a sleek 227-square-foot Allwood Cabin that looks like a Scandi-meets-mid-century-modern build for $11,190.

Also available for $9,190 before taxes and shipping on the company’s direct website, the Allwood Cabin is the perfect alternative for people who want a tiny home or an accessory dwelling unit (ADU) with a more modern appearance. Architecture fans will love the Arlanda XL Cabin’s streamlined rectangular appearance and significant natural light, thanks to the four large floor-to-ceiling windows that are adjacent to a sliding glass door and another long window next to it.

Many tiny homes fall into the 100-plus square foot range. Allwood’s Arlanda XL Cabin reads like a massive oasis in comparison, because it offers almost double the space, including a little 44-square-foot patio area at the front. The 193-square-foot interior measures a whopping 19 feet and 6 inches in length, 11 feet and 7 inches in width, and 8 feet and 7 inches in height, ensuring plenty of space for its inhabitants. The kit also comes with the option to install a wall inside to create separate interior spaces, or you can keep the all-wood cabin as an open space.

As with other Allwood cabins, you can also opt to add a matching “bartini” L-shaped bar for $228 or a regular bar for $336 for 15% off if you buy one with the cabin on Allwood’s website.

The size and aesthetic of this cabin also makes it perfect for an Airbnb, a guest home on your property, a large home gym or pilates studio, or even as a spacious work-from-home area, but you’ll need to do some work on the interior to make it guest-ready.

Keep in mind that like all Allwood tiny homes, the kits come with everything you need to construct your cabin (including do-it-yourself instructions) except for materials for insulation, a concrete foundation, and roof tiles. The Amazon description also says the small window on the left side of the cabin is not included. Plus, the wood is untreated, so you’ll need to stain or weatherproof it to protect it from the elements and ensure it lasts over time.

Depending on how you want to use the Allwood Arlanda XL cabin, you might need to hire contractors to set up plumbing and electricity. This will, of course, drive up the cost of your tiny home, but is still likely to be much cheaper than the price of a traditional home, which is on average about $420,000

On Amazon’s website, it says the build requires minimal tools and can be completed in about “1-2 weeks for two handy adults,” which one happy customer appeared to corroborate on Allwood’s website. They revealed that the cabin “was fairly easy to assemble compared to traditional construction” and called out the “very good quality components.”

While the Arlanda XL Cabin only has one review on the company’s website, other tiny home kits from the brand have numerous five-star reviews raving about their customer service, easy-to-build designs, and the great quality of the wood for the inexpensive price.
