’Tis the season of hosting guests and throwing dinner parties, and when front doors basically become revolving — aka you might expect more people in your home than usual. More guests mean more bathroom breaks, and you’ll need a place to stash that extra toilet paper. Fortunately, interior designer Isabella Lafferty has just the chic place to do it, and it’s super easy to re-create in your bathroom.

“Toilet paper isn’t decor. … Would you do this??” Lafferty wrote in a recent caption. “The goal is to not have them out on display, but to have them hidden. Yes — you can use the storage you have in your home, but sometimes it’s nice to have them nearby when you run out! Plus, some of us don’t have the most storage in our bathrooms and ANYTHING helps.”

Vintage Jars Add Character and Storage to Bathrooms

According to Lafferty, you can find really great jar options at HomeGoods for reasonable prices. You want to make sure that the jar is large enough to fit several toilet paper rolls and that it comes with a lid. However, you can also find great deals on these when shopping online, too. This jar on Amazon, which is inspired by antique ginger jars, is about the same dimensions as the jar Isabella found for her bathroom.

Or, you can go larger, like this jar that stands about 20 inches tall. This one may fit an extra roll or two and is simple enough to fade into the background.

A few people in the comments say that to really sell the idea that this jar is purely decoration and not a vessel for more TP, you could put it on a small table or pedestal to give it height and make it look more like decor. And others say this idea is a win, especially in bathrooms low on storage space.

“I think it is pretty, and especially useful if you have a pedestal sink,” one person commented on Lafferty’s post. Another said, “I love it, especially for [a] powder room.”

Elevate your toilet paper storage and keep those tucked away in something beautiful to make your bathroom the prettiest one your guests will visit during the holiday season and beyond!
