About Me
Mary Leavines is a writer, photographer, and long-distance hiker. Originally from south Louisiana, she left her home state in 2022 to thru-hike the 2,200-mile-long Appalachian Trail. After walking from Georgia to Maine, she resettled in the mountains of Western North Carolina, which she now calls home. You can find her essays, updates on her upcoming memoir, and more at maryleavines.com. When she's not writing, you can find her renovating the 100-year-old home she shares with her husband and a rotating cast of foster dogs, driving down dirt roads, and hiking towards the closest waterfall.
