This $40 Table Lamp Looks Way More Expensive than It Is (I’m Getting Both Colors)

One thing about me is you’ll rarely find me using the big lights in my home. Mine are interrogation-level bright, and while that could easily be fixed with a switch of bulb, buying table lamps is more fun. I’ve amassed quite the collection over the years and love how they elevate my decor and bring a mood-setting glow to my space. That being said, I’m always on the lookout for vibey new styles to bring into the mix (even if I am running out of places to put them). 

When I came across this gorgeous Velvet Table Lamp by Beautiful, Drew Barrymore’s home brand at Walmart, I knew it had to be mine. And the $40 price sealed the deal (it looks like a high-end piece!). If you’re on the hunt for a lamp that looks the part, at a cost you’ll feel good about, this is it. 

The Beautiful Velvet Table Lamp combines a classic silhouette with stylish, modern finishes. The round body is wrapped in sheeny velvet, while brushed gold-toned metal accents peek out at the neck and base for a hint of shine. From what I can tell in the photos, the empire lamp shade beautifully diffuses the light, emitting a soft, warm glow that I’d imagine creates a cozy, intimate ambience (this isn’t a task-oriented desk lamp, for example).

It’s rather small at just under 20 inches tall, but it makes a bold statement despite its size. It comes in rose pink and a deep emerald green color for maximum impact, and yes, I do want both colors. 

Judging by the lack of reviews, my guess is the Velvet Table Lamp is still pretty new — but it’s made a fabulous first impression. The clean, modern shape and luxe velvet finish stand out in the best way, and look like something I’d find at a high-end retailer. And the fact that it’s actually only $40 feels borderline criminal. One thing to note, though, the velvet base might attract dust, so keep a lint roller handy.

The colors are beautiful, too. Pink will never go out of style and the deep green shade, while bold, would sit beautifully next to more neutral pieces. The gold details can also be paired back to other hardware in your home, if you’re into that sort of thing. 

I’m envisioning this lamp on my bedside table — the diffused light from the rosy lampshade will be perfect for pre-bedtime reading — and the green one would look perfect next to my sage-colored sofa. But it really doesn’t matter where you put it. The lamp styles itself. I could see it sitting on a console table at an entryway, on a living room side table, or on your shelf-scape alongside your personal library. The high-end look coupled with the low-risk price makes the Beautiful table lamp a big-time win.
