We Tested (and Rated!) All the Dining Tables at Wayfair — Here Are the Best to Suit Your Style and Space
Shopping for furniture online is one of the most daunting experiences, especially when it’s for a larger piece like a dining table. As part of our Personal Shopper series, we stopped by Wayfair’s first-ever brick-and-mortar store in Wilmette, Illinois, to check out all the dining tables it has to offer.
Since I grew up in the Chicago suburbs, I was able to drive over and check out the two-floor store, which even boasts a sit-down cafe and plenty of outdoor seating. I spent several hours trying out every dining table I could find (along with other furniture categories, like sofas). It was tough, but we narrowed it down to the most unique and the ones that impressed me most.
Why Wayfair?
As I mentioned above, Wayfair is known as the ultimate online furniture store, so I knew it would be an important service for our readers to go visit and check out everything in person. Wayfair’s website offers hundreds of options per furniture category in every design style, which I know from personal experience, can be a bit overwhelming. Hopefully, our article makes it easier to pick out dining tables online. Wayfair offers free shipping, and, on select dining tables on this list, free assembly.
The Criteria
We judged every Wayfair dining table in-store based on the following five criteria. These scores helped us determine who the table suits best and for what type of dining.
- Capacity: How many people can fit around the table? Are any structural or design elements (i.e., beams, legs, etc.) obtrusive?
- Customizability: Are size, configuration, material, color, or other details customizable? How granular can a shopper get when customizing?
- Versatility: Can the table expand or change size? How difficult would it be to assemble, disassemble, or move? Can it be used as more than just a dining table?
- Appearance: What style does it best suit? Does it lean more traditional (i.e., detailing, dark wood) or more contemporary (i.e., sleek, light wood)?
- Quality: Is the table built for looks or to last? Are its materials more basic (and typically easy to maintain) or more luxe and uncommon?

Alicia spent the day at the Wayfair store in Illinois to evaluate the brand’s dining tables on their versatility, customizability, and appearance.
Every Editor-Tested Dining Table at Wayfair
Best Classic: Bianca Pedestal Dining Table
What impressed us: The Bianca Pedestal Dining Table is perfect if you want to add a rustic vibe to your kitchen. The table is constructed out of kiln-dried solid acacia wood, which has a natural, weathered finish. No table has the same wood grain color, and there are special wood knots in each table. It looks vintage and feels durable under the hand. The pedestal design is classic yet visually interesting, with the four supports joining in a knot before transitioning into four separate pieces again. This piece is perfect for a family of four, though it could fit five people in a pinch. You can choose from three different colors (we viewed the salvaged gray in store).
Specifications:
- Dimensions: 54” long, 54” wide, and 30” high
- Finishes: 3 options
- Seats: Up to 4 people
- Material: Solid and manufactured wood
Best Modern: Mellonia Marble Dining Table
What impressed us: If you’re on the hunt for a modern dining table that doesn’t have a wood top, the Mellonia Marble Dining Table is a great candidate for you. It’s composed of a genuine marble top and a solid mango wood pedestal base, both of which are sturdy and gorgeous. This table will make any kitchen look more elegant and is great for entertaining a few friends or family members. It officially seats four, but one more person could be squeezed in. Just a note that this table might be delivered in two pieces.
Specifications:
- Dimensions: 42″ long, 42″ wide, 30″ high
- Finishes: 3 options
- Seats: Up to 4 people
- Material: Marble and solid wood
Best for Entertaining: Bianca Extendable Dining Table
What impressed us: If you love to entertain, have a big kitchen, or a designated dining room, we found the perfect table for you. The Bianca Extendable Dining Table comes with a leaf, allowing you to extend the dining table to seat up to eight people, though some Wayfair shoppers say that it can really fit 10 to 12, making this the biggest dining table on this list. When we viewed it in person, we were impressed by the table’s durability and how easy the leaf was to slot in and out. Its weather-worn finish makes any dining experience a little cozier. It comes in three different colors (weathered natural, salvaged gray, and medium brown) to match the aesthetic of any room.
Specifications:
- Dimensions: Up to 83” long (63” without leaf insert), 40” wide, and 30” tall
- Finishes: 3 options
- Seats: Up to 8 people
- Material: Solid and manufactured wood
Best Glass Top: Lark Glass Top Dining Table
What impressed us: This Lark Glass Top Dining Table is a dream for a minimalist’s home — mostly because half of it is transparent, but the solid wood legs are also elegant. The table works perfectly in a small space, as it seats up to four people comfortably. Although the base looks delicate, reviewers say that it’s surprisingly sturdy. It’s one of the easier tables to assemble, as you just need to lift the glass top onto the base. The table has three wood color options (black, dark walnut, and natural) to choose from. If shoppers are looking for a long-lasting dining table that’ll work in nearly any space, this is a great choice.
Specifications:
- Dimensions: 48” long, 48” wide, and 29.50” high
- Finishes: 3 options
- Seats: Up to 4 people
- Material: Tempered glass top and solid wood
Best Oval: Brix Dining Table
What impressed us: For shoppers who want to get away from the pedestal or rectangular dining table shape, this oval dining table we saw in Wayfair’s store is uniquely designed. Although several dining tables can be used as makeshift workspaces, the Brix Dining Table seems like it could function as a desk in an office space. It seems like it would be comfortable to work from. The chic silhouette can accommodate a total of six diners. The table is constructed out of both solid wood and manufactured wood and has modern V-shaped legs, which drew our eye to this dining table originally. It comes in black (which we viewed) or natural.
Specifications:
- Dimensions: 72” long, 38” wide, and 30” high
- Finishes: 2 options
- Seats: Up to 6 people
- Material: Solid and manufactured wood
Best Farmhouse: Lexi Pedestal Dining Table
What impressed us: This farmhouse-style table cut an elegant figure in the Wayfair store. In person, it looked more expensive than it is. The dining table is made out of manufactured wood with a veneer top and a resin base. The finish makes the table look like it’s made out of walnut. It’s smooth to the touch and has a pleasant sheen to it. Just a very important note: You should use coasters and placemats with this table to avoid stains, especially when placing wet or hot dishware or glassware on the surface. The table does require some assembly and weighs 100 pounds when put together.
Specifications:
- Dimensions: 46” long, 46” wide, and 30” high
- Finishes: 2 options
- Seats: Up to 4 people
- Material: Manufactured wood and resin
