This Portable Cleaning Gem Is My Latest Obsession (It Gets Out Any Stain!)

As most pet parents know, messes are inevitable — whether it’s dirty paw tracks after a long walk, food stains left behind after a delicious snack was eaten, or the occasional accident inside — which is why it’s so important to have pet-approved cleaning tools on hand. For my dog, Leo, I use unscented grooming wipes and a no-rinse paw cleaner (depending on how dirty he is) on his paws after our walks, and a portable carpet and upholstery cleaner to get out any messes on our couch, rugs, or his pet beds. 

I’m a big fan of Bissell, a brand known for their pet-focused approach to cleaning — especially their portable cleaners. So when I got a chance to test one of their newest additions to the Little Green line, the Little Green Pet Pro, I was extremely excited. Here’s what you need to know about the little Green Pet Pro, and how it performed.

Bissell’s Little Green Pet Pro is a portable carpet cleaner that spot-treats and tackles stains on multiple surfaces, including carpets, rugs, upholstery, and more. You can use it on stairs, pet beds, and low-pile rugs as well. It’s a new addition to Bissell’s Little Green line, which includes the fan-favorite, OG Little Green Portable Carpet Cleaner (that’s now available in a mini version!).

What sets the Little Green Pet Pro apart is that it’s been rigorously tested by the brand to be “pet proven,” excelling at tackling pet-related stains and messes. What makes it pet proven? Bissell surveyed more than 7,500 pet parents to get an idea of what issues they face. From there, they created a collection of pet proven products that aim to clean up those types of messes with ease.

Additionally, the Little Green Pet Pro delivers a professional-level cleaning with strong suction, specialty tools, and an extra-large capacity tank (64 ounces compared to 48 ounces of the Little Green) so you can clean longer.

I’ve had nothing but good experiences with past Bissell products, so I had high hopes going into testing Little Green Pet Pro. Fortunately, it did not disappoint at all.

I used the Bissell Little Green Pet Pro for several months to tackle a variety of messes: to get out food stains (like from blueberries) that got on Leo’s pet bed in the living room, to clean up an accident he left on our bedroom rug on an especially stormy day (because he’s not a fan of getting his paws wet at all and how dare I make it rain?), and to refresh our sectional sofa that was starting to smell. 

The Little Green Pet Pro weighs 13 pounds and has a handle at the top, plus the 15-foot power cord and 5-foot hose wraps around the base, so it’s very easy to carry it all over the house. For each mess I used the Oxy Spot & Stain Formula for Portable Carpet Cleaners, which came with the cleaner, and alternated with the specialty tools. The crevice and pet hair removal tool were especially helpful when it came to the couch. 

The strong suction of the Little Green Pet Pro banished all these messes with ease; it sucked up the blueberry bits, pee, dirt, and, of course, tons of dog hair. The cleaning solution is a triple-action formula, so it removes stains, eliminates odors, and protects against future messes. All the dirty gunk that collected in the waste bin was grossly satisfying to empty out, and because the tank is so large I didn’t need to refill it while using it.
