This Useful Kitchen Organizer Will Double the Storage Space in Your Cabinet
If you have an L-shaped kitchen counter, chances are you struggle with making use of the empty space that’s almost impossible to access in the corner of your cabinet. It’s tough to reach, thanks to the awkward bend, and it’s hard to see what’s in there. I’ve experimented with putting bigger, lesser-used appliances (like my slow cooker, air fryer, and Instant Pot) back there, but it’s annoying to have to take everything out every time I need one of these appliances.
Luckily, TikTok can be a treasure trove of kitchen storage hacks that transform your limited shelving and cupboard space into a deceptively upscale layout. Case in point: A TikToker is going viral for revealing an ingenious (and surprisingly renter-friendly) product that instantly doubles storage in your pesky cabinet corner.
The Organizer That Turns Dead Space Into Storage
TikToker @ThatIsGoodProduct suggests making full use of this unused space by installing an organizer that basically looks like a built-in — and the best part is that you can take it with you whenever you move.
“POV: that dead corner cupboard used to drive you mad so you turned it into something useful,” they captioned their TikTok video, which highlights a blind corner pull-out shelving unit with four baskets and two separate moving parts.
The organizer, which mounts to the back of your cabinet wall, makes use of the blind storage space in your cabinet with a sliding rack that pushes the back unit into the area that you can’t reach. However, when you need to access your stuff, you can easily pull the organizer out (which you can choose to do for just one side or both sides). Once it’s outside the cupboard, you can see and access everything that’s stored on its shelves before pushing it back into place.
An Alternative You Can Shop
If you can’t find the exact product in the video, I also found this one from The Home Depot. It’s a popular and similar design for $509.99 that measures 20.88 inches in height, 26.25 inches in width, and 20.25 inches in length, which means it’ll fit most 45” blind corner cabinets with at least an 18” opening.
The heavy-duty chrome organizer is zinc-plated and sturdy: It holds up to 15 pounds of weight per shelf. You can also adjust the size and height of each shelf depending on what you plan to use it for. Depending on your preference, you can choose to have the shelving unit delivered to your home for free, or you can go pick it up at your closest store.
Several happy customers remarked that The Home Depot’s blind corner pull-out shelves were a “great use of otherwise dead space” and that it “feels sturdy” and “good quality.” Some also noted that it wasn’t difficult to install, but cautioned double-checking your cabinet measurements to ensure they fit before you go through the work of putting it together.
