These Fuzzy Memory Foam Slippers Are Replacing My Go-To House Shoes for Fall, Winter, and Spring
Few things in my wardrobe get more use than house shoes. For the past few years, my one and only pair was the Crocs Mellow Recovery Slide, an ultra-cushy slip-on that dissipates aches and pains. But for all the praise I’ll heap upon them, they’re missing one thing I need most of the year as a New York resident: warmth. Their EVA material doesn’t exactly scream “cozy,” and they don’t play well with thick socks.
But recently, I acquired a second set of house shoes that hits the sweet spots of warmth, comfort, support, and practicality. I received the Bombas Women’s Sunday Slipper courtesy of the brand to test when it launched in October, and I’ve worn them every single day since — yes, they’re that good. Now, my Crocs are sitting in the back of my shoe storage, and I don’t plan to pull them out until the sun sets on slipper season.
What Is the Bombas Women’s Sunday Slipper?
The Sunday Slipper is Bombas’ most advanced slipper to date. It’s covered with a warm and cozy faux shearling inside and out, which encases a memory foam and EVA insole that’s both supportive and comfortable. On the bottom, there’s a thick rubber outsole that provides traction on potentially slippery indoor surfaces like wood and tile. It’s also rugged enough that the slipper can be worn outside, whether that’s for a quick trip to the mailbox or on the patio for a morning coffee. Practical, no?
Bombas, whose founders appeared on Shark Tank in 2014, started out with socks and a buy one, give one business model — for every pair sold, a pair is donated to a homeless shelter. (So far, they’ve donated more than 150 million pieces of clothing.) I’ve been wearing Bombas socks for the past seven or so years, starting with the no-show socks and switching to the ankle socks when the latter fell out of fashion. The brand has since expanded to other basics, including underwear, shirts, and shoes. There are even sporty collections and kids’ sizes, including collaborations with Peanuts and The Minions.
Why I Love Bombas Slippers
They’re comfy-cozy.
I mean, if they weren’t, you wouldn’t be reading this right now. My apartment is on the ground floor, and cold air seeps in during the winter — slipping these on instantly cocoons my toes in warmth. And with a footbed that’s akin to a firm mattress, they’re great for walking around the house and standing for long periods of time in the kitchen, particularly for my high arches.
And the brand’s recommendation to size up is spot-on: I’m a 7 ½ in most brands, and a size 8 slipper fits me snugly both with and without socks on.
They’re convenient.
I wasn’t really looking for an indoor-outdoor slipper when I received these Bombas, but now I don’t think I can go back to traditional styles ever again. Not having to change footwear when cleaning up my dog’s business on the back porch or meeting food delivery in the lobby is a tiny time-saving luxury that everyone deserves.
Looks matter.
Can you call a slipper “attractive”? Well, I’m going to. I’m obsessed with the round-toe look, the slim profile, and the high-pile fleece that still looks fresh after all these months. And the color! I have the slippers in Dark Camel, which likely hides dirt and imperfections better than the Cream and Nimbus Grey shades. Plus, Dark Camel is the only color available in all sizes as of this writing.
Orders over $75 ship free, and new customers can take 20% off their first order when they sign up for the brand’s emails. If that’s the case for you, throw in a pair of my go-to socks to hit that free shipping minimum. Or buy one pair for yourself and another as a present for Valentine’s Day or a birthday — trust me, Bombas slippers are a fail-safe gift they’ll be delighted to unwrap.
