Whenever I have a tricky storage problem, I ask myself if I’m overcomplicating the issue. It’s always best to break it down to the basics: What is the size and shape of what I’m having trouble storing? How much space do I have to store it? Is there an existing organizer that would work for the purpose? Odds are, the answer is going to be yes.

This was yet again true with an ingenious storage hack I saw on TikTok. As much as I love an intricate organizer with compartments and bobbins for extra utility, not everything needs all the bells and whistles. Case in point? Using book bins to store hair tools in your bathroom.

About 15 seconds into the video above, creator Emma Villaneda of The Crafted Studio Co. grabs one of Dollar Tree’s adorable floral stackable book bins and puts it under her bathroom sink. It’s the perfect size for hair accessories and gadgets, like blowdryers, curling irons, flatirons, and crimpers (which are so back). Book bins are tall, long, and narrow — it’s like they were made for these notoriously difficult-to-organize tools. If you get a few, you can fill them with hair brushes, lint rollers, cleaning and pet supplies, feminine products, or surplus toiletries.

Of course, you’ll want to always make sure the styling tools aren’t plugged in, and have already cooled down before placing them in the bin. Other brilliant uses for book bins include storing packaged snacks in your pantry, water bottles in your kitchen cabinet, or remotes in your TV room.

While the gorgeous bins featured in the TikTok aren’t available online, you can stop by your local Dollar Tree to look for them. If you prefer to do your shopping from home, opt for similarly bright book bins from Dollar Tree for $1.25 each that actually interlock so you can stack them side-by-side.
