Figuring out how to store your food storage containers is one of the biggest kitchen storage dilemmas. Whether you’re dealing with a growing collection of containers or have a difficult space to work with (like deep kitchen cabinets) — keeping your storage containers in one easy-to-access location is no easy feat.

Thankfully, I found a brilliant solution by tuning in to an episode of “Friends with Houses,” an Apartment Therapy YouTube series that features our very own Editor-in-Chief, Charli Penn, and Executive Home Director, Danielle Blundell; the two neighbors, friends, and fellow home experts swap realistic decorating and organizing advice from their houses.

Kitchen Storage Dilemma: Deep Cabinets Lack Organization

In the debut episode, Charli welcomes Danielle and viewers to what she calls her “hot mess kitchen” (although I personally think it is far from it!). When Charli and her husband bought their house, they thought the galley-style kitchen was great. It was super trendy, very modern, and light. But after living there for awhile, they realized it just wasn’t functional for them — especially the deep cabinets.

“We had all these cabinets, but they aren’t functional,” says Charli, who demonstrates this by opening a cabinet that containers spill out of immediately. “They’re so deep, but once you fill them with things, you have to pull everything out. Everything is buried.”

Charli’s big dream is to eventually knock down a wall and turn the whole area into one big beautiful kitchen island with a built-in stove and storage all around. But in the meantime, she’s discovered just the solution to keep clutter at bay and get her cabinets so organized: pull-out cabinet organizers. The best part? It’s easy to install and costs under $100.

Kitchen Storage Solution: Pull-Out Cabinet Organizers Are Storage Gems

The Lynk Professional Pull Out Cabinet Organizer, which measures 20 inches wide, 4 inches high, and 21 inches deep, was the perfect organizer for Charli’s deep kitchen cabinet. The single-tier, cabinet-mounted pull-out organizer requires just a drill to put it together.

Charli made sure to measure and make sure the organizer fit before proceeding with the installation. With some help (and support) from friends, she was able to install it in under an hour, although it may take you much shorter if you are more skilled at using a drill (it was her first time using one!). Once she installed the organizer, she decluttered and organized her items, and voila! A perfect place to store all her food storage containers without any hassle. “[I] bought the right organizer for the right space and solved the right problem,” says Charli.
