As AT’s Senior Style Editor, I cover the latest interior design trends, expert decorating ideas, and must-see home products. Whenever I’m not keeping tabs on the next TikTok “core” or buzzy IKEA collection, I’m most likely reading, online shopping, or looking for the best tacos in New York (recs are encouraged).

Step aside, velvet, there’s a new texture in town — bouclé. Fun fact: The term (derived from the French boucler, which means “to curl”) refers to both looped yarn and the resulting fabric woven or knitted from said yarns. Initially popularized in the ’40s, the cozy textile’s now back with a bang… but not always on a budget. Although I have a hunch you’ll be seeing it everywhere in the near future, for now, bouclé’s fairly limited to high-end home brands with high-cost sofas, armchairs and beds.

That’s not to say it’s impossible to get the look for less, even if that means setting your sights on smaller iterations of the trend — think ottomans, pillows and decorative accents galore. To that note, we’ve rounded up all of the above (and more!), so that you can curb your decor craving without breaking the bank. Behold, my bouclé-on-a-budget starter pack:

23" Boucle Ivory Pillow with Insert
