At a time when color-drenched interiors are all the rage, it’s not surprising that this year’s holiday decor trends include a luxe Christmas take — everyone is leaning into burgundy. This luxe, rich shade is trending, and many are drenching their trees in burgundy ornaments, bows, garlands, and even flowers. Some people are even going all out and buying burgundy-colored trees (instead of green!). Keep reading to see why people are obsessed with this movement.

How to Get the Burgundy Color-Drenched Look

Burgundy and velvet go hand in hand, and you can find gorgeous dark red bows in stores everywhere right now. Bows add texture to your tree: The longer the ribbon legs, the better. This gives the overall look a drippy, drapey, lush effect.

You can add even more texture to the tree by layering in different shades of red, varying from brighter cherry reds to oxblood, eggplant, and even browns. Sprays of holly berries can add some tonal variety, as can faux florals, such as poinsettias.

And if you really want to go all out with burgundy this year, you can actually pick up a burgundy-colored faux Christmas tree. Our favorite from Walmart stands just over 7 feet tall and comes prelit, so you can set it up and start decorating right away. The hue is perfect for color-drenching an entire corner of your space, but can also work with other ornaments, too, if you decide to change things up again next Christmas.

There are so many ways to tackle the burgundy Christmas tree trend, whether you lean fully in or use it as a jumping-off point. With burgundy as a base, your tree will look so elegant and timeless.
