I Tried an Air Purifier So Quiet, I Forgot It Was There (and It’s Great for Small Spaces!)
I honestly never considered getting an air purifier, but when I started noticing a stuffy smell in my “charming” old apartment, it got me thinking about the air quality. I also have a dog that sheds constantly and an allergy-prone husband, so when Canopy — the brand behind the buzzy, editor-loved humidifier and fragrance diffuser — launched their new Bedside Air Purifier, I figured it might actually be a great fit.
It ended up being just what I needed (and then some!). Read on for the full low-down on my experience. And if you’re interested in grabbing one for yourself, keep code APT15 handy. It’ll give you 15% off your Canopy order through October 29! Now, onto my review.

Design Features That Stand Out
The first thing that stood out to me about the Bedside Air Purifier was its size. While many air purifiers can be bulky and obtrusive in their design, Canopy’s was remarkably sleek and compact (smaller than my laptop, even), making it perfect for small rooms. The versatile footed shape can be positioned standing up or laying down, giving you more places to put it. It’s easy to tote from room to room, too, thanks to its ergonomic handle.
The Bedside Air Purifier’s space-savvy design also includes its smooth faceplate. It’s stylish, sure, but when laying horizontally, it functions as a catchall tray for your bedside essentials, eliminating any disruptions to your nightstand. It even has a USB-C charging port for your phone and other devices, so you don’t have to sacrifice precious outlet space.
Most air purifiers promise to filter out odors, but few actually leave your space smelling noticeably fresher than before, so I found the purifier’s built-in aromatherapy diffuser to be a fun, thoughtful detail! It’s really easy to use, too. Just add a few drops of essential oil to the felt puck before sliding it into the purifier.
It’s clear that Canopy thought of everything when designing the air purifier, because it also features a night-light that emits a soft, ambient glow in your space. You can choose between red and white light to perfect your wind-down routine.
How It Performed
After testing the purifier for nearly a month, it’s hard to imagine how I ever went without an air purifier before. I had mine set on auto mode, which conveniently monitors the air quality in a room and adjusts the fan speed accordingly. My husband and I both noticed how much fresher the air in our bedroom felt, and that the stale, old-build smell we were noticing before had pretty much disappeared.
And while I don’t suffer from allergies myself, I asked my husband if he experienced any stuffiness through the night, and he reported that he’s been sleeping surprisingly well. Granted, it’s hard to attribute that to any one thing, but a win is a win.
Canopy says the purifier is whisper quiet, but I’d go so far as to say that it’s virtually undetectable on the lowest fan setting — I almost forgot it was there at all. When I’m craving a bit of white noise, I’ll bump the fan speed up to a two or three and the perfectly hushed whirring sound lulls me to sleep in no time.
My nightstand was sadly spoken for, so I set mine up horizontally on my dresser. The faceplate ended up being the perfect spot for my phone and sunglasses. And the sleek, unobtrusive design didn’t throw off my decor at all. One thing to note, though, is that the purifier needs direct access to an outlet (no power strips or extension cords), so if your home’s outlets are few and far between, you might have to do some rearranging. A small price to pay for cleaner air, if you ask me.
Also important for a purifier newbie like me, Canopy’s is remarkably user-friendly. I was happy to avoid installing another app on my phone to get it set up. And while I haven’t had to change the filter yet (Canopy recommends changing doing so every six months), I removed the faceplate for testing and the process seems refreshingly straightforward.

Should You Buy the Canopy Bedside Air Purifier?
Even if you don’t think you need an air purifier, I’d argue that Canopy’s Bedside Air Purifier will be the one to change your mind — it’s the wellness buy I didn’t know I needed. Plus, the $199 price tag is surprisingly accessible compared with other purifiers on the market, and the Protect Plus Air Purifier Filters are $45 each (or $40 with a subscription), which isn’t bad if you’re replacing your filter every six months. Now that I’m an Air Purifier believer, I’ll definitely be subscribing.
