Name: Carolyn’s Notting Hill Victorian Flat
Location: Notting Hill, London, United Kingdom

This is a first floor Victorian flat in the heart of Notting Hill — blessed with very high ceilings. It is, however, under 550 square feet. As a foreigner I wanted to live in a “postcard” home.

When I bought this flat, it had been run down and I have decided to renovate it with one goal in mind: getting the best out of its huge marble fireplace, original wooden floor, beautiful beam, and most importantly super high ceiling.

I bought items one by one over 3 years, each time making sure I loved it on its own, but also that it would find its place in the flat. I end up with old, new, rough, polished, classic, design items but they all seem to balance each other warmly.

Hardly anything in the flat has been bought off the shelf: every time I would see something, I would get it slightly adjusted or use it as a piece to something else. All I aimed for were warm materials and to fall in love each time!

Thanks, Carolyn!
