Cheez-It’s New Limited-Edition Flavor Is So Good, I Totally Get Why There’s a “1 Per Customer” Limit
As a groceries editor here at The Kitchn, I’m privy to the hundreds (yes, hundreds) of new product releases that come out each year. (Have you tried the new Selena Gomez Oreos yet?)
With so much newness, it’s not every day that something gets me excited. But when I heard that Cheez-It collaborated with Wendy’s to create a limited-edition Wendy’s Baconator Cheez-It, I stopped in my tracks. I mean, it’s got everything I look for in a snack. Crunch! Cheese! Bacon! I had to try it ASAP — here’s my full and honest review.
What You Should Know About Cheez-It x Wendy’s Baconator Crackers
Cheez-It has teamed up with Wendy’s, the iconic fast-food brand, to launch a Baconator Cheeseburger-inspired cracker. The Baconator features two quarter-pound patties with Applewood smoked bacon, American cheese, ketchup, and mayonnaise. So this new collab promises layers of smoky, meaty, cheesy flavor in a bite-size cracker.
The box is a standard 12.4 ounces and is a limited-edition, exclusive flavor rolling out nationwide later this month. Customers can currently pre-order a Cheez-It x Baconator Snack Set online for $4.49 (before they hit stores). In addition to a box of the new Cheez-It crackers, the set comes with a Wendy’s Frosty Key Tag which guarantees unlimited Frostys through the end of the year. It’s been routinely out of stock (but also refreshed every few days, so check back often!).
My Honest Review of Cheez-It x Wendy’s Baconator Crackers
Going into this taste test, I was unsure if Cheez-It would be able to capture the classic Baconator flavor all in a one-inch cracker. Now, it didn’t need to taste like a whole burger, but I’d want at least a taste of that meatiness. As soon as I got my hands on a box, I tore right into the bag inside and popped a few in my mouth to find out.
DELICIOUS! I wish I got a Baconator to compare the two side-by-side, but even without its muse I was surprisingly impressed with the bacon-forward cheesiness of these crackers. It really shined through. It, of course, didn’t have the same juiciness and texture that makes a burger a burger, but the flavor is pretty dang close. Truly a bacon cheeseburger reimagined as a box of crackers.
