A Chic Chicago High-Rise Apartment Mixes Modern, Glam, and Wallpaper
Name: Candy Scott, two dogs, Rosie and Ruby.
Location: River North ā Chicago, Illinois
Size: 765 square feet
Years lived in: 1 year, renting
My home is a high-rise apartment in the River North neighborhood of Chicago. As an interior designer, I spend a lot of time at the nearby Merchandise Mart working with vendors and running to client meetings. It was important for me to be in a convenient location in the heart of the city. I love that I can see the āLā right below my balcony and experience all the sights and sounds of downtown Chicago.
Because I love to travel, I wanted my home to reflect the incredible destinations that have really impacted me. I share my home with my two dogs Ruby and Rosie, who both love perching atop the back of the couch. They also love looking out across the whole city.
Describe your homeās style in 5 words or less: Eclectic, global, transitional, curated, meaningful.
What is your favorite room and why? The kitchen! I love cooking and hosting friends and family. I also enjoy working at my kitchen island. Itās the center of my home and seems to be a great place to do a multitude of activities. My favorite piece in the kitchen? I have a huge Lazy Susan on the countertop where I keep condiments, flowers, small plates, and an enormous pepper grinder and candles.
Whatās the last thing you bought (or found!) for your home? The alpaca rug in my bedroom is my new fave. Itās sooo soft and the best thing to step onto in the morning.
Any advice for creating a home you love? Donāt feel like you need to stick to one style! Choose pieces you like and incorporate artifacts that are meaningful to you. Think about curating instead of decorating.
Thanks, Candy!
