Frank Lloyd Wright is one of the most influential architectural figures in American history. His homes are so famous that many are museums, and the houses that you can live in go on the market at a significant cost.

Wright is known for his signature nature-forward designs and craftsmanship details. I can only dream of living in one, but I can get the next best thing: Starting in September, fans can get a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the challenging building process of Wright’s final project through a new TV series.

How to Watch the New Frank Lloyd Wright Series

With the help of executive producers Chip and Joanna Gaines, The Last Wright: Building the Final Home Design of America’s Greatest Architect will air on the Magnolia Network on September 3, 2025. One day later, on September 4, fans can watch the four-episode miniseries on HBO Max. Viewers can expect to see how new owner Sarah Dykstra and her mom, Debbie, worked with architects and builders to construct the RiverRock house, following Wright’s 1959 blueprint as closely as possible while also dealing with any challenges.

What We Know About Wright’s Last Design

This is a huge deal for Frank Lloyd Wright fans, as the RiverRock house in Willoughby Hills, Ohio, was believed to be his final residential build. In 1959, a then-91-year-old Wright came up with the blueprint for the RiverRock house for the Penfield family shortly before his death.

And according to the RiverRock website, the three-bedroom, one-and-a-half bath Usonian-style property — characterized by a one-story, ranch-style build with large open spaces and plenty of natural light — didn’t start coming into fruition until 2023, when Dykstra (who also bought the nearby FLW property the Louis Penfield House in 2018) began work on it.

Unsurprisingly, building the home in 2023 without anyone from Wright’s team present was difficult, as Dykstra and her builders tried to to keep to FLW’s original design while also taking modern regulations and conveniences into consideration. It was completed in early 2025, and the new documentary will take fans along on the years-long project to bring Wright’s final residential vision to life.

How to Stay at Frank Lloyd Wright’s RiverRock House

While buying your own Usonian dream house might be out of reach, you can still still enjoy the full FLW experience by booking a stay at the RiverRock House. The gorgeous home, which is surrounded by 30 acres of forest, can accommodate up to six people — but your stay won’t be cheap. Prices start at $800 per night, but can be quite a bit more with weekend rates as well as hotel and cleaning fees. However, for FLW fans, the one-of-a-kind stay is a great way to check out some of the Wright features mentioned in the documentary up close.
