If Instagram carousels were a TV show, then a new episode of my favorite home decor series just dropped. Actress Christina Hendricks has been renovating her home, going room by room, to make every corner feel more like her. Most recently, she transformed her guest room into a Scottish Highlands-inspired bedroom that’s bursting with color, pattern, and antique decor.

“Be my next guest in the little guest bedroom!!!! She just got such a cutie makeover!!!!!” Hendricks wrote in a recent Instagram caption. “I turned this room into, what feels like, a little treehouse. Inspired by my love of @thefifearms and that cozy environment in the Highlands of Scotland, I wanted that romantic feel.”

She continued, “I also stepped out of my comfort zone with these colors but am so thrilled with the outcome. Art on the walls to follow … but I always get scared with fresh wallpaper. Give me a minute.”

Christina Hendricks’ Guest Room Is a Master Class in Pattern Drenching

The rich mix of patterns, textures, and even styles makes this room feel as though it’s been added to throughout generations. Hendricks installed the Jurdan Floral Mural from York Wallcoverings, available through Anthropologie, on the wall behind the bed, which seemingly set the tone for the rest of the space.

She pulled the warm yellow tone from the mural for the ceiling and leaned into the pops of brownish-red with the striped wallpaper.

This brick red striped wallpaper from Spoonflower is much bolder than the one Hendricks used in her space, but it gives that same classic feel that would work well with antique furniture and accessories. It would also work just as well paired with the Jurdan mural, too!

To add even more interest, Hendricks piled on the patterns when it came to dressing the bed, the lamp shade, and the rug. But because all the patterns exist in the same family of colors, they all work well together, and the clashing prints aren’t at all overwhelming. They just feel lush, rich, and cozy.

Picture this space with a few lit candles and a good book waiting for you on the bedside table — I’m already giving it five stars. I can’t wait to see which room Hendricks tackles next!
