Actress Christina Hendricks has been slowly revamping her home, one room at a time, and she’s taking her Instagram followers along for the ride. Her most recent redo was her office, which Hendricks described as “awful ‘magic castle’ purple,” a color she hated when she first painted it, and still hated a decade later.

So she swapped out the purple walls for gorgeous, ornately decorated wallpaper and took everything to the next level. Pattern clashing reigns supreme in this space, and Hendricks pulled it off so well.

“I JUST WENT FOR IT!” Hendricks captioned the Instagram post revealing the finished office space. “I FINALLY stopped overthinking it and added layers and layers. One choice informed the next, which informed the next, etc. There was no real plan on this one.”

Hendricks Used MINDTHEGAP Wallpaper in Her Office

Hendricks said her first decision was the wallpaper, which is MINDTHEGAP’s Tyrol Garten. Although the paper is a deep olive green, Hendricks said it was more brown than she expected — but she continued.

This wallpaper print from Spoonflower is a good alternative to the MINDTHEGAP print. The wallpaper also features a green background and floral motifs in cream. This print is available in a variety of fun colors, allowing you to choose the one that best suits your taste.

“I quickly realized I needed to color drench the molding and baseboards before the paper went up, or it would look choppy,” she wrote. “Got everything up and realized I had to do the ceiling, too. Had to be done. And that made the chandelier that’s been there 15 years stand out for the first time!”

The paper was just the first print Hendricks chose for the space. Next came the drapes.

“I found this incredible reproduction fabric downtown in the fabric district that mimicked 1930’s chinoiserie prints for the drapes and added soft lacey sheers for even more romance,” she wrote, adding that her “old reupholstery trick” totally transformed the look of the chairs that were previously fading in the background. “Found vintage red floral fabric on @etsy and @leejofa for the back of the chairs.”

The layers of fabrics, plus standout furniture pieces like the red dresser, snake mirror, pink area rug, and stunning tufted couch, make this room feel lush, gaudy, and eclectic in all the best ways.

“Now the room is a dream,” Hendricks wrote. “I can’t get enough of the drama.”
