Claire’s Playful Pop Culture-Loving Decor in DC
Name: Claire
Location: Brentwood neighborhood of Washington, DC
At 700 square feet, this apartment feels casual and playful. My boyfriend and I wanted both of our personalities to be visible so we mixed masculine elements (midcentury seating and angular, clean lines on foundation tables) with feminine touches (nesting tables, accessories, lighting) in our layout.
We wanted a whimsical factor that referenced both our love of pop culture and our dachshund (he’s everywhere!), so the wall art — “Dach Jedi” and the various superhero canvases reflect that.
Another way to display the playful side of the apartment was through bold colors and prints, which we wholeheartedly embrace and love, so you can them range from pillows to rugs to even a hand-painted pinstripe wall we DIY’ed in the entry.
We entertain often and want our guests to feel at home, relaxed and happy. We want to a bring a smile to everyone who walks into our space; if they get a laugh out of the “Dach Jedi” wall art, that’s even better!
Thanks, Claire!
