Lou Crane has only been living in this four-bedroom English Edwardian house, located in Cheshire, United Kingdom, for three-and-a-half years, but the changes she’s made to the 120-year-old home are epic. When she moved in the space was dark, painted in all the wrong colors (like a truly garish living room palette), and really just a forgettable place.

By the time we toured the house in 2023, Lou had made plenty of updates to the 1500-square-foot space, turning it into a sort of Downton Abbey meets Absolutely Fabulous collection of colors and patterns. But Lou recently submitted her home to Apartment Therapy again due to all the changes she’s made since. She’s showed transformations of rooms like the kitchen and stairs on her TikTok account, @notaperioddrama.

“My home is stacked with personality, both mine and its own,” Lou writes. “I’ve filled it with pattern and color, which represent me and the way I want myself and other people to feel in each home. I’ve done this with respect to all of the original and gorgeous features that lay within, bringing them back to life and making them the forefront of any design choices.”

“By using bold colors, strong patterns, and typographic prints I think you can see the person who lives here strongly in each room of the house,” Lou continues. “Each has its own individual personality but they tie together to form a cohesive conversation as you move through the house. Pink and green tones throughout form a strong color palette and where that’s not present in decor I bring in plants and accessories to really tie it all together.”
