Clothing designer Caroline Bourgine bought this small one-bedroom apartment in Paris three years ago, and it had previously been owned by an older couple. Caroline explains that the 505-square-foot apartment is located in a building from the 1970s, and that the style before moving in was “old-fashioned and rustic.” She completely redecorated the place into a very cool, modern home while also respecting the apartment’s 55-year-old past!

Caroline describes the apartment's small but colorful kitchen: "The matte gray cabinetry brings a a vintage feel and serves as a neutral base for the electric blue handles, which add a fun, modern twist. Despite its compact size, the layout was carefully planned to be as functional as possible." She brought the vintage-style neon cinema poster back from a trip to Japan.

“From the very first visit, I knew this apartment was the perfect place for me,” Caroline begins. “As a clothing designer, I was looking for an open, bright space in a neighborhood with a sense of community. I worked on defining the different areas using color, aiming to combine comfort with personality.”

Caroline describes her bathroom as an "unexpected space where color really takes center stage. I chose a deep cobalt blue for the walls to create an intimate yet vibrant atmosphere. The throw you see is actually a quilt made by my own brand, Bourgine."

“The apartment’s interior draws inspiration from the vibrant spirit of the 1970s, mixing vintage pieces with color,” Caroline continues. “The intention was to create a balance between retro flair and my artistic personality. The space itself, with its clean lines and open layout, has a quiet modernist influence that I cherish very much.”
