Honolulu, HI, USA - July 14, 2024: Costco store sign

As someone who has several scented candles adding a cozy glow to my apartment at all times, it’s a sad day when one of my favorites nears its end after just a few days of burning. While larger candles deliver on a more luxurious appearance as well as a longer life, they also usually come with a $100+ price tag that’s hard to justify — which is why a giant new Costco candle that weighs 3.5 pounds and only costs $25 is being called a “great buy” by shoppers.

Popular candle company Sand + Fog, a women-owned brand out of California, is selling four 57-ounce scents at Costco for $24.99 a piece. That’s a steal, considering that the 12-ounce versions of these same scents are the same price on Amazon.

The three scents include a floral Blush Rose, a smoky Feu de Bois, and a rejuvenating and crisp Ocean Mist. The candles are also a four-wick design, meaning the candles will cast off a stronger scent and have a more even heat distribution.

I own several Sand + Fog candles that I’ve picked up during various T.J. Maxx and HomeGoods runs, so I knew I had to add the winter-perfect Feu de Bois scent to my shopping list after seeing Costco’s newest candles trending online.

In response to an Instagram Reel shared by creator @CostcoHotFinds, shoppers praised the candles’ longevity, with one revealing, “I bought these for my grandma and [mother-in-law] for Christmas last year and it lasted them both the entire year! They have about an inch left in them still.” Another revealed that they were still enjoying their giant candle a year later, writing, “Bought these last year and still have them.”

Several shoppers did note that Sand + Fog scents tend to be a bit more subdued than other candle brands like Diptyque, so these are a great option for someone who wants a light but not overpowering scent wafting through their space.

With its budget-friendly price tag, name recognition, and statement-making size and appearance, these three-pound candles are also a great last-minute gift option for the candle-lover in your life — or for yourself. One happy purchaser commented, “My husband is obsessed with candles and bought two of these 😂 one for home, one for his office.”

It’s not the first time that Costco, aka the go-to destination for bulk shopping, has supersized a candle. Back in July, they sold a whopping 90-ounce luxury candle that doubled as decor for $90 — and many shoppers noticed that the ultra-large size quickly sold out at warehouses. While that modern black behemoth is back on Costco’s website, the store’s newest selection of giant Sand + Fog candles are just a fraction of the price (and half the size).

If you don’t see them at your Costco warehouse, you can try ordering them on Instacart or, as @CostcoHotFinds suggests, calling your closest location to see when they’ll be getting them in stock. If you’re not a Costco member, right now through December 22, if you sign up for a Gold Star membership you can get a $45 digital Costco Shop card.

You can also order other large Sand + Fog candles on Amazon and T.J. Maxx (although they’re half the size), like a $14.99 27-ounce wooden three-wick round candle that comes in a sweet snickerdoodle cookie scent. There’s also a $12 frasier-inspired Winter Pine scent that’s also 27 ounces with 12 wicks in a metallic tin.

You can also buy various Sand + Fog candle sizes and scents on Amazon, but it’ll cost you much more than you would spend at Costco. For example, it’s $45 for a 34-ounce size of the Winter Pine scent.

With how much you’re saving with the Costco pricing, it’s definitely worth making a trip to your closest warehouse and checking to see if any of these candles are in stock before they inevitably sell out.
