Costco’s Sleek New Sofa Is Going Viral for Its Hidden Built-In Feature
A cupholder isn’t always associated with super stylish, cool seating, but Costco’s newest release reinvents the idea with a hidden mini fridge. Yes, truly — Costco just released a loveseat recliner that’s designed for a home theater of your dreams, complete with a beverage cooler tucked into an armrest already loaded with a collapsible cupholder. As fans are noting on social media, this sofa is“perfect for binging a show.”
“There’s a reclining sofa at Costco with a built-in refrigerator. This is insane,” Laura from Costco Hot Finds said in a recent Instagram video. “It belongs in a movie room. It has a little tabletop and cupholders, and the leather on it is so soft. These are a zero-gravity recline, and the headrest adjusts, too.”
Costco’s 80-Inch Sofa Has a Cooling Unit Inside
Costco’s new recliner, the Alton Power Sofa, retails for just under $1,700. Sure, that’s a bit steep for an 80-inch-long couch — but the technology behind its design makes it worth the price. The mini cooling unit tucked between the two seats is spacious enough to hold a couple of extra beverages, and you can set your preferred temperature using the easy controls located on the armrest. Although it’s not an actual fridge, this cooler space will still keep your drinks nice and chilled for hours.
“Forget a guest room; I’ll be making a movie room,” one person wrote in a comment on Laura’s post. Another said, “I would never leave that seat.”
A new mom even chimed in, “I’m five weeks postpartum, and all I can think about is how nice this would be as an exclusively pumping mom. …” Genius!
The Alton sofa is a Costco in-store exclusive item, but there’s another sofa with a built-in cooling unit available online if you don’t have a Costco membership. Wayfair is selling a 123.5-inch sofa with even more bells and whistles (hence the price over $6,000).
Not only does it have a lift-up bar (with an option to add a built-in freezer), but it also has wireless charging stations, reading lights, and even a speaker inside the couch. Talk about a piece of furniture that can truly do it all.
Kick your couch potato game up a notch with the Alton couch from Costco. It’s leather finish is chic, oh-so-cozy, and too convenient with that built-in cooler feature. But beware: You’re going to have a hard time going about your responsibilities once this couch makes its way into your home!
