It’s always nice when a piece of furniture can play more than one role — especially when that additional duty is creating extra storage in your home. Right now Costco is selling a clever ottoman that does a fine job as a footrest or extra surface to sit on, but with one small adjustment it can also hold your drinks and snacks, and store your blankets.

What Is the Henredon Sona Fabric Storage Ottoman from Costco?

Sporting cream-colored fabric upholstery and light wood legs, the Henredon Sona Fabric Storage Ottoman with Reversible Wood Tray Tops is a rectangular ottoman that serves as a table, tray, and storage. How can it do all this? The top of the ottoman comes off in two pieces, revealing an inner storage chamber divided into two sections.

Storage ottomans are relatively common, but this one has an extra feature: The inside of each lid is lined with wood, so when you flip it over, you can use each one as a portable tray or stick them back onto the ottoman to create a sturdy surface. The ottoman measures 29 inches wide, 29 inches long, and 19 inches tall, and retails online for $229.99.

I first encountered this clever creation in a video by content creators @costco.twins. In their video, you can see how easily the piece of furniture goes from classic ottoman to tabletop mode. It’s also a good way to see how big it is, as both twins can comfortably sit on it. The video also shows that the Costco ottoman costs $199 in-store, which is a bit cheaper than online — plus, you won’t be at the mercy of a tracking number.

An Alternative Storage Ottoman to Shop if You Don’t Have a Costco Membership

If you don’t have a Costco membership, you can still get your hands on a similar multitasking storage ottoman. A best-seller at West Elm, the Bowman Storage Ottoman has a similar look and shape as Costco’s, but it’s slightly smaller, more square, and only has one removable lid instead of two. There’s still a comparable amount of interior storage, as well as the ability to turn the lid into a wooden table or tray by reversing or removing it.

The Bowman Storage Ottoman comes in multiple sizes (including a “quad” version, if you really want to go big) and has many options for both color and upholstery fabric type. The closest one to the Costco ottoman is the single storage option in Alabaster Twill, which retails for $299.
