This “Wonderfully Soft” Bath Mat Is So Easy to Clean

Finding the right bath mat is tricky, but the stakes are even higher if you have a tiny bathroom — with such limited square footage at your disposal, it can make a huge impact on the space! I want a bath mat that’s absorbent, soft underfoot, and easy to clean. For a while I struggled to find one that was all three, until I tried Cozy Earth’s Loop Terry Bath Mat. (Bonus: It’s also nice to look at!) Keep reading for my thoughts. 

Made of 60% cotton and 40% bamboo viscose (Cozy Earth’s specialty!), the Loop Terry Mat has everything I was looking for: It’s plush, absorbent, and machine-washable. The double-sided looped terry weave gives the bath mat its highly absorbent, durable feel, while also feeling super comfortable underfoot. 

“This bath mat is so soft and absorbent,” wrote Barbara, a Cozy Earth shopper. “Your feet will love stepping onto it.” And you’d be right to believe Barbara — because I’m positively obsessed with mine. It’s available in three sizes and three colorways, including a newly released petal pink. I opted for the medium, which is 22×45 inches. 

The Loop Terry Bath Mat turned out slightly larger than I expected (a reminder to always check the dimensions!), which was a happy accident. It fits perfectly against the length of my tub and even covers some of the floor space in front of my vanity, so I can enjoy its plush feel while I’m getting ready in the mirror. 

As someone who does the bulk of their drying off outside of the shower, I was impressed with how well the bath mat absorbed every drop of water so quickly — especially for something so lightweight. One Cozy Earth shopper reports a similar experience, saying, “[It’s] very soft but sturdy. After stepping out of the shower onto it, I can feel how quickly the bath mat absorbs the water.”

I found that it stayed in place when slightly damp from my stepping onto it from the shower, but it does slide around a bit when the mat’s fully dry (which isn’t a dealbreaker for me, personally). So I’d consider putting a non-slip mat underneath it, just in case.

I used to think that soft and easy-care bath mats were mutually exclusive, but that’s not the case with Cozy Earth’s mat. My old bath mat had memory foam cushioning that was soft, but it was an absolute nightmare to wash (it took forever to dry!). This mat feels cozy and plush, and because it doesn’t have a foam cushion it’s way more manageable to clean. I wash mine on cold and dry it at a low temperature, and it comes out as good as new. I’d argue that it’s gotten even softer since the day I got it (which doesn’t happen often). 

The thinner, cotton-bamboo-viscose material dries quickly, too. Even on days that call for a morning and night shower, the mat never feels damp or icky. And no weird smells or discoloration have formed on it, either. What’s more, the bath mat’s pink shade perfectly complements my millennial pink bathroom (although it’s neutral enough that I could see it working anywhere).
