I’m perimenopausal, extremely picky about textures, and have sensory issues, so I need the softest bedsheets possible or I simply can’t sleep. Much to my husband’s dismay, for years I actually insisted on sleeping on vintage sheets from the 1980s (a conservative age estimate), because after decades of washing, they’d become perfectly threadbare and smooth as silk. Every new sheet set I tried in the past, no matter the brand or thread count, had always disappointed me. Every sheet set I’d tried either made me feel too hot, didn’t feel soft enough, or turned scratchy or pilled after a few washes.

Now that I’m 42, perimenopause has heightened my need for the perfect bedsheets. I used to fall asleep easily and stay asleep all night, but now I lie awake with my mind racing or find myself waking up multiple times throughout the night for no reason. Add night sweats (yuck) to the mix, and comfort in the bedroom has become more important than ever for me.

That’s why I went searching for a solution and found Cozy Earth, a brand that makes luxurious bedding and sleepwear from natural materials like bamboo, silk, and cashmere. The company promises fabric that’s “so breathable, you’ll sleep several degrees cooler,” and guarantees it won’t pill for 10 years. Most recently, I’ve discovered their Soft-Wash Cotton Sheet Set and Soft-Wash Cotton Quilt. It’s bedding that has quite literally changed the way I sleep.

After hearing about the brand from former Apartment Therapy house tour participant and actress Diane Gaeta (who raved about them on Instagram), I decided to give them a try. I started with their bamboo sheets, mattress pad, and blanket. The sheets were the smoothest, slickest fabric I’d ever felt, and my sleep improved almost immediately. Even my husband said he only wanted to sleep on Cozy Earth sheets for the rest of his life!

What Is Cozy Earth’s Soft-Wash Cotton Collection?

I’ve recently had the opportunity to try out Cozy Earth’s Soft-Wash Cotton Sheet Set and Soft-Wash Cotton Quilt, which are made from 100% premium cotton that’s been pre-washed for what they’re calling a “lived-in feel,” the kind of texture that usually takes years of use and washing to get. The soft-wash quilt is also made of natural, sustainable cotton fiber and manages to be the perfect balance between lightweight but not too flat looking.

Together, the soft-wash line from Cozy Earth gives my bed a sort of chic but effortless look that also feels incredibly comfy to crawl into at night.

Why I Love the Cozy Earth Soft-Wash Cotton Sheets and Quilt

The first night I slept on these sheets, it felt like I’d been sleeping on them forever. Cozy Earth has created bedding that feels instantly familiar, like my favorite vintage sheets I’ve been sleeping on for years. They’re not stiff like some new sheets can be and they’re soft but they’re not overly soft.

I love my bamboo sheets from Cozy Earth, but sometimes the bamboo’s material is almost too smooth. (We’ve woken up a few times in the morning and the sheets have slid off our bed in the night!) They’re perfect for hot and humid summers in New Orleans, where I live, but with the weather turning a bit cooler, the soft-wash cotton sheets give me that satiny texture I need for my sensory issues and a cozy, “it’s fall season” feeling.

Honestly the soft-wash cotton sheets are unnoticeable in the best possible way. For someone with sensory sensitivities, that’s exactly what I want: sheets that don’t make me think about how they feel. It just feels right.

I admit, I was nervous about washing them for the first time. Many sheets that feel amazing at first lose their magic after one or two washes. But after more than a month of use (and several laundry cycles), they still feel just as good. I didn’t even read the care label, I washed them like any other sheets, and they’ve held up perfectly. No pilling, no roughness, no weird texture. Just soft, breathable comfort every night.

I also have an elderly dog who is trying his hardest to stain them, but the soft-wash cotton sheets keep coming out clean after each wash, no problem.

After years of trying out different kinds of bedsheets, I feel like I’ve finally found the one that actually deliver on the promises it makes about softness. Cozy Earth’s Soft-Wash Cotton Sheet Set and Soft-Wash Cotton Quilt are the perfect balance of softness, breathability, and durability — and they feel like your favorite sheets you’ve been sleeping on for years the moment you open the packaging (which, by the way, is also high-end and more like opening a gift from a friend than a box from a company).

If you’re a hot sleeper (or in perimenopause), sensitive to textures, or simply want your bed to feel like the coziest place ever, Cozy Earth sheets are absolutely worth it.
