I’m Definitely Stealing This Brilliant Idea For Fancying Up Spare Toilet Paper
Whether you’re redecorating a bit after a big bathroom deep clean or just quickly zhuzhing the room before hosting guests, the last thing you probably think about is how to make your extra toilet paper rolls look cuter. By skipping this step, though, one Instagrammer would argue you’re missing out on a fun decorating opportunity. Using vibrant paper napkins (think: ones like you might find at HomeGoods), you can turn those extra rolls into pieces of decor that look like something you’d see in a boutique hotel bathroom.
“Today I’m picking out napkins for my toilet paper, and if you’re like my husband, you’re probably thinking ‘what did she just say?’ But yes, you heard correctly,” Instagram user Emily Brooke West said. “This is such an easy way to spruce up your bathroom, and all you need is a napkin and toilet paper.”
Essentially, you can make your own protective paper wrapping for your toilet paper rolls with decorative napkins. Take each spare roll of toilet paper and wrap an unfolded napkin around it. Stuff the excess into the toilet paper roll, and that’s it!
“It’s so cute, and it honestly looks like you stepped into a fancy hotel,” Emily said. “I absolutely love it.”
“This is so cute I never would have thought of this,” one person commented on Emily’s post. Another said, “What a great idea for hosting guests, a party, or when you’re showing your home. I’m definitely stealing this idea.”
And for those who may be concerned that this DIY is wasteful, Emily assures commenters that she doesn’t let the napkin covers go to waste. “Very cute, but what do you do with the napkin when you go to use the roll it was wrapped around? Tell me you don’t use it at the table,” one person wrote, to which Emily responded, “Put it on another roll of toilet paper.” Can’t make it to your local HomeGoods? You can order similar cute paper napkins right from Amazon. I love the flowers on this Rifle Paper Co. selection.
You could also use your “used” decorative napkins to decoupage lampshades, decorative platters, or other pieces of home decor. And, of course, the napkins that aren’t used for home projects would look stunning next to a charcuterie board at your next dinner party or as hand towels in a powder room.
It turns out that you can beautify pretty much anything as long as you think outside the box!
