I wake up before my husband most mornings, which means everything — from my outfit change to hair and makeup — needs to happen in the bathroom. My bathroom also has zero counter space (I can’t tell you how many times a hairbrush or T-shirt has been knocked into the toilet bowl … yuck). So more often than not, I’m running around my apartment grabbing everything I need for the day while trying not to make too much noise. It’s a stressful start to the mornings. However, it recently occurred to me that moving a dining chair into the bathroom might help solve the issue. Let me explain.

Why You Should Try Putting a Dining Chair in Your Bathroom

First, a dining chair would help make up for my bathroom’s tiny countertop (while still requiring less floor space than a side table, for example). I could use the seat to store my makeup bag, unplugged hair tools … the possibilities are endless. It’d be a game-changer for my morning routine and give me a spot to lay out my outfits for the next morning, thus limiting my many trips back and forth from my bedroom to the bathroom. I could even hang clothes on the rail of the chair to steam clothes if I need to.

Outfit planning help aside, a dining chair would be a cool way to display decorative towels. If I got a chair with a slatted back, for example, I could hang extra towels on the rungs. It’d be like ladder storage and a side table in one. Plus, I love the idea of leaving guests’ towels neatly displayed on the chair when I’m hosting. So put-together!

Needless to say, I’ll be trying this ASAP. If it sounds as ingenious to you as it does to me, read on because I scoured the internet for dining chairs that are suited to this use (although you can always try it with a chair you own). Keep reading for my findings.

All Modern Jago Stacking Side Chair
$135$119

“Very sturdy chair! Love the black and wood combo,” wrote one Wayfair shopper, and, honestly, same — the contrasting tapered wood legs give this stackable chair a modern edge. The compact dimensions (29.5''x18.9''x19'') won’t take up much space in your bathroom either.

Sylvo Stackable Dining Chair
$199

The Sylvo dining chair’s angular silhouette wouldn’t just bring a mid-century modern vibe to my otherwise outdated bathroom — its pronounced ears are the perfect spots to hang clothes. Its tight silhouette features a curved top rail you could drape a decorative towel on, too. Article only sells its dining chairs in pairs, but these are stackable for more convenient storage.
