Dollar Tree Is Selling Adorable Mini Storage Gems That Are Perfect for Gifting
Storage containers are one of the most practical, versatile items you can own, but not all containers are created equally. A heavy-duty plastic storage bin, for instance, can be a great help in your garage, but you might not be eager to show it off when guests come over. There are super-cute storage items out there that can serve many purposes, from practical organization to decoration, and some can even serve as the base for homemade gifts. These charming little baskets from Dollar Tree do all that and more.
What Is the Dollar Tree Woven Basket?
One of the newest additions to Dollar Tree’s wide-ranging inventory is a variety of little woven baskets. They have a rustic wicker-style look and come in several designs, including classic tan with white or black rims, and one basket that’s entirely white with black accents that look almost like wicker polka-dots. Dollar Tree’s site says designs can vary by store, but either way, they all retail for just $1.25 apiece.
You can use these baskets for anything you please — pet toys, unread mail, arts and crafts supplies — but they’d also be a lovely starting point for a DIY gift basket. “These woven baskets are perfect for fall and Thanksgiving,” reviewer Joy F. writes on Dollar Tree’s website. “Put some orange tissue paper in the bottom and filled each basket with fall decorations also purchased from Dollar Tree … put it all into a large cellophane bag and gathered [it] at the top with a piece of Dollar Tree floral. Colorful and very pretty.” If this idea appeals to you, it would probably be just as easy to also turn the baskets into little custom decorative displays for your home.
An Alternative Basket to Shop if You Don’t Live Near a Dollar Tree
Not everyone lives by a Dollar Tree, and these baskets are only available in-store. So, if they have caught your eye, know that there’s a similar basket available at IKEA.
The HOKRUBBA basket has the same rustic woven design (it’s actually made from seaweed!) and tan color, and the basket’s rim and handle (yep, this one has handles — and big ones, at that) are painted a pale pink. However, IKEA’s site notes that each basket is “handmade with natural variations in color and shape.”
It’s 5 inches tall with a 13.5-inch diameter, so it should be a bit bigger than the Dollar Tree basket, and the price of $14.99 reflects that. Customers seem quite pleased with the HOKRUBBA basket. One online reviewer said she “love[s] everything about it,” (particularly the oversized handles) and said that “it makes a nice accent piece” in her home.
