As a style-obsessed shopping writer, I often get asked about my favorite home brands — and I always mention East Fork, as I’ve become a repeat customer over the years. The brand’s pottery dishware is incredibly beautiful, durable, and versatile, and I always look forward to seeing the newest drops — especially when they have a deeper meaning than mere seasonal hues.

For its latest release, East Fork unveiled the Henri Matisse collection, which showcases some of the artist’s most iconic works. This isn’t the brand’s first Matisse collection; a couple of years ago East Fork launched a “Matisse red” color for the winter holidays. This time around, the new collection features a deep blue hue that’s as close as possible to the original gouache paint the artist used.

No matter which pieces you get from the collection, I’m convinced they’ll instantly add a touch of French charm to your kitchen and dining space. And they’re just perfect for summer.

What Is the Matisse Collection?

If you’re unfamiliar with East Fork’s story, let me fill you in on some lore: Company founder Alex Matisse is the great-grandson of, you guessed it, Henri Matisse. Not only is the French artist an inspiration behind East Fork as a whole, but some of his most recognizable works take center stage in this new collection. Included in it are bestselling plates and bowls in a blue hue called “La Sirène.” The color pays homage to the one Matisse used in many of his iconic cut-outs.

The other pieces in the collection feature figures from the artist’s paintings, like this serving platter emblazoned with Matisse’s Le Platane drawing. Measuring 14.5 inches across, the platter is perfect for serving apps and small bites during your next get-together at home.

Many of Matisse’s works were inspired by the landscape of the South of France — especially Nice, where he lived until his death in 1954. The shapes and blue color featured in this collection are therefore emblematic of that, too.

Why You’ll Love the Matisse Collection

If you’re into a warm, relaxed aesthetic with rustic vibes, then this is the collection for you. Owning a few of these pieces will feel like having a small piece of southern France in your home — whether you choose a set of soup bowls in the La Sirène color or side plates featuring Matisse’s famous portraits. You’ll definitely want to mix and match for more wow factor on your tablescape.

Although the novelty of this collection is cool, I can personally guarantee that your East Fork pieces will hold up well — even after years of use. I reach for my bowls every day, and I’ve recommended the brand to countless people for this reason. If you’ve been looking for a way to spice up your dishware, consider this exciting launch your excuse.
