If you’re not into stainless steel, black, or white, you might feel like you’re kind of at a loss when it comes to kitchen appliances. But Erin Napier of HGTV’s Home Town fame has a solution — you can wrap them! There is no need to replace a perfectly good fridge or dishwasher just because it doesn’t fit the vibe of your kitchen. Vinyl wrap gives you the opportunity to get a completely custom look.

“That’s a wrap, and the vinyl wrapped appliances are my favorite idea I’ve ever had,” Napier wrote in the caption of an Instagram post about a recent Home Town makeover. You can see in the vinyl-wrapped fridge in the 10th slide of her post. “I love the way Rose is unafraid of color and living out loud, and I wish it for us all. See y’all with more episodes in the winter!”

What Is Vinyl Wrap?

Think of vinyl wrap as peel-and-stick wallpaper for your appliances. It’s commonly used in the automotive industry, but people are now seeing the value of vinyl wrapping other things, from appliances to rental cabinets, kitchen islands, and more.

People were quick to appreciate Erin’s appliance idea. “The vinyl wrapped fridge was genius,” one person commented on Napier’s post. Another said, “That wrap on the appliances is so fun! You’ve got a million dollar idea there.”

And someone else added, “I LOVE the wrap. The color, too. I cannot stand streaks and fingerprints on [stainless steel]. This is perfect. I want to do it on my washer and dryer, too.”

When purchasing vinyl wrap for your appliance, you’ll want to pay attention to the size and shape of the vinyl sticker. This one from Amazon, for example, is made to fit a French door-style fridge. The wrap is made to last, but if you decide you want to change up the look, it’s super easy to peel off (this means this is a renter-friendly option, too!).

Don’t settle for boring stainless steel, and don’t upgrade your white or black appliance just because it looks old when it works fine. Pull an Erin Napier and use your creative streak to vinyl wrap instead!
