I disagree with the idea that gifting fresh flowers for Mother’s Day (or Valentine’s Day, or any occasion, for that matter) is boring. A blooming arrangement is always welcome, but you can also take the opportunity to make it feel unique to your giftee. Maybe they have allergies, or you’re not in a position to drop hundreds on an expensive flower delivery service. The good news is that you can still offer your loved one a floral gift that’s just as breathtaking as a real bouquet but not nearly as expected — and for a fraction of the cost.

Last year before the winter holidays, I discovered the brand Freshcut Paper and received a couple of its pop-up cards. I handed them out to family and friends over Christmas, and I must admit, I did not anticipate such enthusiastic responses. Now, the pop-up cards are my go-to gift for every special occasion, including Mother’s Day.

What are Freshcut Paper’s Pop-Up Cards?

This brand’s pop-up cards come in tons of different styles, including flower bouquet styles (also available in mini versions and large sizes), adorable pets, and elaborate cakes, which are a new category. Suffice it to say, no matter whom you’re shopping for, you’re bound to find a card they’ll love.

I originally received one of the mini bouquet cards and one of the pet pop-up cards. The cards arrive packaged flat in a matching paper envelope, and each one comes with a blank note card on which to write your message. I gifted the orchid card to my mom for her most recent birthday, and she was delighted by its pretty colors and 3D design. She still displays it on the bookshelf in her living room.

The pop-up pet card I got came in a much bigger envelope; the regular-size cards typically measure 10 inches tall. I gave it to the 5-year-old child of family friends, and my parents said that when she received it, she played with it the entire night, having so much fun switching up the dog’s look with the included accessories.

Why I Love Freshcut Paper’s Pop-Up Cards

I don’t know about you, but before discovering Freshcut Paper, I hadn’t received a pop-up card since childhood. When I opened the floral one, I was instantly hit with a wave of nostalgia. Even though I’m no longer as easily impressed by such things as when I was a kid, I still got excited seeing the blooms expand into a three-dimensional arrangement.

Because the cards are available on Amazon, they make great last-minute gifts. I think I’ll be a customer for a long time; whether I need a Mother’s Day, graduation, birthday, or housewarming gift, Freshcut Paper is always top of mind. At $13 for a regular-size card, its products are reasonably priced, and the floral cards don’t wilt like fresh flowers.

If you want your gifts to stand out, definitely add a pop-up card or two to your next Amazon order. They’re foolproof conversation starters, and they’re unexpected compared a regular flower bouquet or greeting card.
