These “Supersoft” Sheets Have a Bonus Feature I Don’t Know How I Ever Went Without
You might think that bedsheets are a pretty straightforward purchase. Before I started testing them for a living, I was right there with you! When I was shopping for my first apartment, I barely looked at the tag to read the material info for my sheets. But I’ve learned that putting a bit more research into my bedding pays off. Since I started paying attention to my sheets — minor as they used to seem to me — my quality of sleep is so much better.
There are a number of things to consider before buying a sheet set. For me, one of the most important is its cooling capabilities. It’s not that I run particularly hot, but when my old building’s heat kicks on in the winter, my apartment gets uncomfortably stuffy. The same can be said for the summer, when my AC just doesn’t cut it. I just found a new set from an under-the-radar Amazon brand that keeps my temperature under control, and it comes with the most clever bonus feature: corner straps on the fitted sheet to keep it in place!
What Are the Greenleaf Bamboo Sheets?
The set’s cooling capabilities are impressive. It has a 400-thread count sateen finish — the weave is silkier and colder to the touch than something like cotton percale — and it’s made from 100% bamboo viscose. Bamboo is one of my favorite bedding materials, especially in the spring and summer, because of how soft, smooth, and temperature-regulating it is. I’ve even come to love it more than cotton, which I never thought would happen. On top of its smoother feel, I’ve noticed bamboo to be more durable and resistant to piling. Plus, it’s organic! I always try to keep my home essentials eco-friendly when I can.
I’ve tested a lot of sheets at this point, but this is the first time I’ve ever come across a set with corner straps, similar to a mattress topper. That’s not all it has to offer, of course: deep pockets that add to its secure fit. The sides measure 18 inches deep with “long” and “head” tags to make sure you have an easy time making your bed. At last but not least, in addition to the fitted and top sheets, this set includes two pillowcases and a matching sleep mask, which is a fun plus.
Why I Love the Greenleaf Bamboo Sheets
Funnily enough, I’ve been using these cooling sheets over the course of one of the coldest months I can ever remember living through in New York City. Even so, I’ve found myself sweating during the night when I turn on the heat — but if I turn it off, I end up shivering all night long. (It’s an endless cycle.) These breathable sheets have been a relief in helping me maintain a normal temperature when I opt for the former, even underneath my comforter. (I can’t wait to use them a few months from now!)
I also can’t believe that these sheets aren’t silk. They look and (more importantly) feel like they are, and they felt that way as soon as I unboxed them. I’m not the biggest fan of sheets that you have to wash over and over to break in, so that was a huge point in this set’s favor. The pillowcases they come with also give me all of the benefits of a silk pillowcase, keeping my hair frizz-free.
Plus, the silk vibe is enhanced by the material’s slight sheen, which makes it look luxurious from where it peeks out from underneath my comforter. I try to make my bed as often as possible, but sometimes I just don’t have the energy. (Who am I kidding? I don’t have the energy most of the time.) But even when it’s not all made up, these sheets definitely make my bed look more put-together. They don’t wrinkle, and honestly, the sage green color I chose is so gorgeous that I hate covering it up anyway.
They’ve held up in the wash during this whole time, too. If you’ve never tried bamboo bedding before and normally stick with cotton, don’t worry: These are low maintenance. Another thing that makes them easy? I don’t have to constantly tuck them back underneath my mattress. I took a risk with these sheets because they only come in queen and king sizes, but I have a full-size bed. Thankfully, I was right that the corner straps would keep it secure even with some excess material. Not once have I needed to smooth them out or remake my bed, and I toss and turn a lot. I also have a bulky mattress topper!
Honestly, I think I’m spoiled for all other sheets now that I’ve tried out a set with corner straps. Considering that they’re supersoft and breathable and come with a matching eye mask, this set is definitely worth the $100-plus price.
