This $4 Halloween Accessory Is the Absolute Cutest Finishing Touch to Your Decorations
Decorating for Halloween is the quickest way to dip into the spooky spirit of this fall holiday. But it’s understandable if you’re not dying to do the labor that comes with assembling holiday decorations (all those directions!). If you’re looking for a subtle (and arguably chic) way to decorate your home for only $4, you’re going to want to keep reading.
“By day the lamp looks chic, by night it’s serving spooky silhouettes,” shares Emma Courtney (@emmacourtneyhome) in a recent Instagram post. She turned one of her table lamps into a fun Halloween decoration simply by attaching bat silhouettes to the inside of the shade. They’re not visible until the lamp is turned on, which makes this a stealth decoration you can easily enjoy (and later remove).
“[It’s] a little detail that feels elevated but still lets me be the fun mum,” Emma continued. “You can DIY these with black paper or grab the Amazon version if you’re short on time.”
How to Re-Create This Bat Lamp DIY for $4
This Halloween look couldn’t be easier to copy. You could, of course, cut out your own bats from construction paper, as Emma suggests. Or you can purchase this set of pre-cut bats from Amazon; the set of 100 is marked down to just under $4, which means you’ll have enough to attach to your lampshade (using double-sided tape) and then can use more to decorate a mirror, your front door, and other lamps throughout your home.
One person in the comment section also shared that “plastic spiders look awesome too” if you already have some in your stash. Try cutting out skulls, pumpkins, bones, or witches’ hats from construction paper if bats just aren’t your thing!
Get in the spooky mood without overhauling your decor with subtle, straightforward DIYs like this one — your home will feel more festive in a snap! Another bonus? It costs less than $4, which leaves you with more money for candy this year.
