As someone who isn’t afraid to admit I’m not a morning person, I’ve always looked for ways to become one. While I don’t think I’ll ever be bright-eyed and bushy-tailed in the early hours of the day, I’ve found a solution that helps me ease into mornings with a less grouchy and more ready-for-the-day attitude: I got myself an alarm clock. While that might sound prehistoric (who even owns alarm clocks anymore?), it has proven to be much more helpful than I initially thought.

Digital alarm clocks are a fantastic addition to your morning routine because they are separate from your phone. This means you can place them on the opposite side of your bed or in a different part of your room, making it necessary to get up to turn them off. If they have a built-in sound machine and sunrise light, even better! The Hatch Restore 2 includes all these features and more, and it’s currently on sale for Amazon Prime Big Deals Days.

What Is the Hatch Restore 2?

While the Hatch Restore 2 is undeniably beautiful, you might be wondering: Is it worth purchasing just because it’s on sale? The answer is yes! This alarm clock does so much more than just tell time. It features a built-in sunrise lamp, acts as a sound machine, and even includes a wind-down setting designed to help you relax at night. With the Hatch Sleep app, you can fully personalize your sleep and wake-up routines, selecting from a variety of soothing sounds and customizable light colors. Plus, it comes in three stunning muted tones, making it an eye-catching addition to your nightstand.

The clock display dims at night, ensuring it won’t disturb your sleep, and you can easily silence the alarm in the morning with a button on the device or via the app. There’s also an optional subscription for $4.99 a month, which provides access to premium audio content and additional features, though I’ve found the device works perfectly well without it. This subscription can even be shared across multiple devices, should you choose to expand your collection. Just keep in mind that a WiFi connection is required to operate the Hatch, so consider this if you’re looking to minimize the number of electronic devices on your network.

Why I Love the Hatch Restore 2

I’m a sucker for anything aesthetically pleasing, which initially drew me to the Hatch. After having time to play around with it over the past year or so, I can honestly say I’ve grown to love the device and can’t imagine waking up without it. With blackout curtains in my room, the sunrise function (I use the Malibu setting) is a lifesaver, especially in winter when it’s dark by 3 p.m. Waking up gradually to chirping birds or the sound of the ocean is delightful and allows me to indulge in a bit of morning romance before facing the reality of my underwhelming bedroom in Boston.

My only caveat is that I wish the Hatch could sense when my phone isn’t connected to WiFi and wouldn’t go off unnecessarily. I often have to remember to program it to shut off when I leave for extended periods (since it’s automatically set to go on), which can be a bit of a hassle. However, that’s a minor inconvenience in the grand scheme of things. I chose the latte color, and it looks fantastic in my bedroom. I absolutely love it, and a year later, I can confidently say that I still use it daily. Be sure to grab it while it’s on sale for Prime Day — it’s definitely worth the investment!
