Check Out These “Hocus Pocus 2” Filming Locations You Can Visit
It’s only been a matter of days since the release of “Hocus Pocus 2,” and it has already become Disney+’s biggest movie debut ever. And although it may seem as though it was filmed entirely in Salem, Massachusetts — which is where the story takes place — it was actually filmed throughout Rhode Island, at a range of notable spots, according to Elite Daily. Below, find a list of seven filming locations from “Hocus Pocus 2,” all of which can be visited by fans of the nearly 30-year-old franchise.
Washington Square in Newport, Rhode Island
Early on in the film, viewers can see Newport’s Washington Square, which includes the Old Colony House, a Georgian-style historical landmark that was completed in 1741. For “Hocus Pocus 2,” a mock Halloween festival was staged at the square.
Cranston Street Armory in Cranston, Rhode Island
The Rhode Island Natural Guard occupied the Cranston Street Armory from 1907 to 1996. Since then, the State of Rhode Island has run the armory. It was used as a sound stage for a short period of time, after Rhode Island passed tax incentives that encouraged filming in the state.
La Salle Academy in Providence, Rhode Island
Both the interior and exterior of La Salle Academy, a private Catholic high school in Providence, can be seen in “Hocus Pocus 2.”
Newman Congregational Church in East Providence, Rhode Island
According to wcvb.com, the Newman Congregational Church in East Providence makes an appearance in the film. This historic structure was built in 1810, for a congregation that was formed in 1643.
Chase Farm Park in Lincoln, Rhode Island
A replica of Salem, Massachusetts was built at Chase Farm Park during the filming of “Hocus Pocus 2.”
Moses Brown School in Providence, Rhode Island
According to Elite Daily, the Moses Brown School in Providence acts as Salem High School in the film.
Carpenter Cemetery in East Providence, Rhode Island
Numerous nighttime scenes for “Hocus Pocus 2” were filmed at East Providence’s Carpenter Cemetery.
