How a Busy Content Creator Adds Joy to Her Everyday Routine
Content creator Celeste Polanco‘s New York apartment is a celebration of loft living: high ceilings, a wide-open layout, and abundant natural light that her houseplants love. This airy, intentionally decorated space is also a lesson in finding joy in the everyday. Whether it’s a restorative cleaning ritual or an extra-soft throw blanket on the sofa, Celeste knows that all the details add up to a larger feeling of peace, calm, and balance.
One of those details is Celeste’s plant collection. From a large potted fig to a pothos trailing down her kitchen cabinets, houseplants give her space a natural, cozy texture. And Miracle-Gro® products help them thrive. With expert-developed potting mixes, plant food, and reliable pest solutions, Miracle-Gro gives plants everything they need to flourish.
Celeste uses her morning routine as an opportunity to start the day with intention. From doing Pilates to caring for her plants, her mindful mornings help her prepare for whatever the day may bring. Here’s a typical morning routine.
Early Riser: My first alarm goes off at 7:00 a.m., and the second goes off at 7:30 a.m. During this time, I enjoy listening to affirmations. I usually have pretty busy days, so having a moment to myself helps me mentally prepare for the day ahead.
Workout Sesh: Once I get up, I go straight for a morning workout. Some days I prefer Pilates, and others I’ll go all out with a weightlifting session. I find that starting my day with a really good workout significantly reduces my stress levels. I’m someone who can become easily overwhelmed: Having a healthy outlet to release tension in my body not only relaxes me, but also provides the foundation for me to think more clearly. It helps me stay focused throughout the day.
Matcha Meditation: I never buy matchas. I prefer to make them at home. I’m a sweet-tooth girl, so I add a few pumps of vanilla syrup. I usually enjoy the drink on my steps or risk it all by drinking it in my living room (which is white).
Growing up, my mom always had her coffee in the morning. We weren’t allowed to talk to her during that time; to her, it was her morning meditation. I didn’t understand what that meant until I became an adult. It’s really important to take a moment with yourself before you interact with the world. Life can feel really chaotic, and sometimes we need to cultivate our own moments of peace.
Plant Babies: I don’t have kids or pets, so my plants are my only real responsibility outside of my bills. My plants are my babies, and I try to take care of them at least once a week. I water them and use Miracle-Gro Indoor Plant Food to ensure they receive the necessary nourishment. It’s a great responsibility that’s rewarding every time I see my babies thrive.
I have nine plants in total. One fig tree, one snake plant, one ivy plant, one plant that was given to me and whose type remains unknown, and the rest are pothos plants. I love pothos plants! They are among the easiest plants to care for and the most rewarding. I love watching my pothos plants get really long throughout the year.
City Walk: If there’s time, I’ll go for a morning walk. Morning walks always motivate me. I put on my favorite playlist and get pumped for the day! I’ll usually listen to anything from the ’80s and ’90s, and a pop song or two. By the time I’m done with my morning routine, it’s time for me to get into the swing of things.
