These $9 IKEA Storage Baskets Look So Good (I’m Buying at Least 3!)
Like many people out there, I’ve been in the process of switching out my plastic kitchen essentials for glass or metal ones. Microplastics continue to be a health concern, according to recent studies, and of course all that plastic just isn’t great for the environment. I’ve swapped plastic food storage containers for glass Pyrex ones, and black plastic cooking utensils for silicone tools — and I think a few of these metal IKEA 365+ Food Storage Baskets with Lid might be headed to my kitchen next.
When something isn’t plastic and it’s cute, it definitely turns my head. And because the baskets are only $8.99 apiece, I can pick up several. They’re ideal for storing foods at room temperature (think: fruits and veggies) or they could be great for other types of foods, like canned goods. They’re sleek and stylish enough to display on my kitchen counter. Bonus: The mesh design will allow me to easily spot what’s inside.
Also, you gotta love the bamboo lid, which is another part of this food storage basket that isn’t plastic. The cherry on top is that these baskets are stackable, which means they can move beyond the countertop to my teeny-tiny pantry, where sizable storage is hard to come by.
Available in light gray and white, these baskets will go with any color palette, including my neutral-hued kitchen that could definitely use a few more (stylish) storage solutions.
If you’re not able to find these baskets in store or don’t happen to live near an IKEA, don’t worry! Amazon has a four-piece set of metal mesh baskets with lids for $39.99 — which means each bin costs about $10 (just a little more than the IKEA ones). While the lids aren’t bamboo, the entire set is plastic-free as well.
