IKEA’s Newest Kitchen Organizers Are Practical Storage Gems (and They’re Gorgeous!)
Since moving into my own apartment, I’ve found myself increasingly caring about kitchen storage solutions. I want my kitchen to look streamlined, be tidy, and maintain functionality. That’s why, when I came across the new food storage items from IKEA, I was so happy because not only are they spacious, versatile, fun, and affordable — but they also remind me of my mom’s old cookie tins. It’s going to be hard not to stock up on them and buy more than I need!
What Are the New IKEA Food Storage Items?
IKEA dropped three new food storage items: a tall, oval dry-food storage tin, a set of cookie tins, and a thin spaghetti tin.
The BETTHAJ Tin with lid measures 6 inches high, 9 inches long, and 5 inches wide, with a capacity of 3.3 quarts. It’s just $7.99, and it comes in a gorgeous pale blue color. It’s perfect for storing dry goods, like flour, sugar, or rice.
The cookie tin set — offered in the same blue and also a butter yellow that feels so mid-century modern — measure 9 inches in diameter and 3 inches in height, with a capacity of 2.6 quarts. It costs $9.99 for a pack of two.
But that’s not all! The third and final drop in this colorway is the prettiest 2.8 quart spaghetti tin in pale blue for just $5.99. (IKEA also dropped plain silver tin versions of the BETTHAJ storage solution, in a 1.3-quart coffee-grounds size and a 19-ounce coffee/tea container, but I’m obsessed with the pops of color.)
The tin is made out of lightweight yet durable tinplated steel, with a grooved surface all the way around. These grooves are ideal for improving grip when picking the tin up, and they also create a beautiful textured design. When closed, the BETTHAJ tin is airtight, perfect for keeping food fresh or other items tucked away from dust or everyday wear and tear.
Why I Love These Food Storage Gems
My favorite thing about all three storage finds are that they are all stackable. As someone who has a small kitchen, it can be tricky finding smart space-saving storage solutions that work well and don’t create an eyesore. These tins tick all of my boxes — they’d look super fun and vibrant in my home while neatly stacked away in my cupboards and on my countertops. Customers of the tin seem to feel the same way, praising it for being “very pretty and practical” as well as “spacious.”
Where Else Can These Tins Be Used?
An airtight stackable tin like this would work wonders storing dry goods in the kitchen such as flour, coffee grounds, and sugar, but you could also use it in the bathroom to store toiletry items such as cotton pads that you’d like to have on hand but stored away from dust in the air.
If you’d prefer to think outside of the box, though, why not use them to store dried flower petals and make your own potpourri? Simply let your fresh petals dry out naturally in the air, then place them in the tin to accumulate. When you take the lid off and sit the container out in the open, you’ll have a stunning scent linger in the room. You could also use any of these tins to store hair ties, pens, sanitary products, sewing essentials, and more. The options are vast, though be mindful that this tin is not dishwasher safe.
