As someone who lives in a small apartment, there are two main things I think about when looking for household items: Does it look good, and is it functional? I want the things in my space to be aesthetically pleasing (especially because they will stand out in my small space more prominently than they would in a bigger space), and I can’t sacrifice an inch for something not functional. The new IKEA KINNASJÖ Trash Can just so happens to tick both of these boxes — it’s streamlined and versatile.

What Is the IKEA KINNASJÖ Trash Can?

The IKEA KINNASJÖ Trash Can is a one-gallon bin measuring 5 7/8” high, 9 1/2” long, and 6 1/4” wide. Made out of a durable plastic material that’s more than 50% derived from recycled materials, the bin is eco-conscious as well as super-easy to wipe down.

This is helped by the round nature of the KINNASJÖ Trash Can’s shape. It makes cleaning the product a breeze, as there aren’t any tough-to-reach nooks and crannies. The bin also features a ring at the top designed to hold your waste bag in place, as well as a lid to neatly tuck your garbage away out of sight.

Why I Love It

One of my favorite things about the KINNASJÖ Trash Can has to be the muted green color. It’s attractive but not over-the-top, and brings a touch of color into a space without making a trash can into the focal point. I also love how it can be mounted on the wall if you need a trash can in an area with limited free-standing space. One of these would be perfect in my kitchen or bathroom! Plus, it’s $5. It’s just really hard to beat that price.

Where Can This Product Be Used?

A small bin like this that can sit on the floor, on a surface, or be mounted onto a wall has endless opportunities to be placed somewhere useful. Perhaps it could live in your kitchen as a compost bin, or in a garden shed to store your discarded compost or bird seed, or maybe in your bathroom as a place to toss away sanitary products. Wherever you could use a bin for trash or tucking away small items, the KINNASJÖ Trash Can could find a home.
