Anyone who has ever set foot in my house knows that if there’s one thing that I can’t handle, it’s clutter. Bathroom clutter, living room clutter, bedroom clutter — it’s got to go. It’s not about trying to make my house look perfect or live up to some unrealistic social media standard — I’ve been a perpetual tidier for a long time (way before TikTok and Pinterest ever existed).

For me, a cleaner space equals a clearer mind — hence my endless tidying. And yet, there’s still one aspect of home where clutter continues to persist: cord and cable solutions. No matter how hard I try, I always end up with tech-spaghetti, as I like to call it, all over my desk and behind my television. Let’s face it: Extension cords and power strips are hideous, but trying to hide them presents an entirely new set of challenges. So what’s a girl to do? Head to IKEA, that’s what.

The latest budget-friendly IKEA gem to catch my eye is the SKOTAT, the brand-new, adorably chic extension cord that has the magical ability to do one thing I never thought possible: Make my cords look cute. Goodbye, tech-spaghetti; hello, SKOTAT!

Why I Love IKEA’s SKOTAT Extension Cord

It was love at first sight for SKOTAT and me; it’s the only extension cord I’ve ever seen that actually functions as a piece of decor! Instead of being a boring flat strip, it’s corner-shaped like a pyramid almost, so you can easily add three outlets and two USB-C chargers to the top of your desk instead of a giant wad of cords shoved under your desk. Desktop cord clutter? I don’t know her.

You can also stand the SKOTAT upright and place it in the corner of your room on a desk, bookshelf, nightstand, or dresser. Or you can have it lie flat, so it’s almost like a little tent-shaped name plate on your desk (only it’s so much more functional). Plus, the design comes in the cutest shade of pale green. And the best part is that it’s just $30. That’s a small price to pay for a functional-yet-sleek tool that can totally transform your space.

An Alternative to IKEA’s SKOTAT Extension Cord

And if you can’t shop IKEA for any reason, you can buy a somewhat-comparable product, A VOLT’s Square 1 Magnetic USB-C Extension Cord, at Bespoke Post. It doesn’t have the same exact shape, but it nails the simple Scandi vibes and color — and even packs dual USB-C ports for more charging capabilities. It is more expensive, though.

I don’t want just one SKOTAT — I want six. I want them for every room of my house so I can clear up my cords, and, in doing so, my mind at the same time.
