I’m Betting IKEA’s New $8 Designer-Looking Mug Will Be Sold Out Soon

There are a few essential household items that you can never truly have enough of, and good glassware is one of them. Just imagine when you’re hosting guests; a well-designed and aesthetically pleasing glass is such a simple way to make a statement and start a conversation. Such a little object can have a big impact! And although I’m not seeking them out, gorgeous cups, like the newly dropped IKEA SKUGGSTUBB mug, seem to find their way to me (and I’m not complaining). 

The IKEA SKUGGSTUBB is a new multicolor, almost transparent mug that comes in two colors (a variation of green and brown) and was designed by Willy Chong. It holds up to 14 ounces of your favorite warm (or cold, I’m not judging!) beverage, thanks to its heat-resistant glass construction that withstands hot temperatures. Another bonus? The mug is easy to clean and maintain. 

Content creator Robyn of @robynxsp on TikTok recently shared a video of new IKEA in-store items. Of course, the first product shown was a gorgeous mug that resembles designs by Sophie Lou Jacobsen. I immediately had to track it down and found that it’s IKEA’s new SKUGGSTUBB mug. 

Aimee, an IKEA shopper, left a review on-site, “Happy with my purchase. It is lightweight and the color is vibrant. Dishwasher- and microwave-safe, so it is perfect for coffee and tea.” Taisa, another IKEA shopper, called the cup “MUGnificient,” and expanded by saying, “It’s a great mug, super lightweight, design is superb. Makes me so happy.” No wonder the glass has an almost five-star rating on IKEA’s website. 

While you can still buy the $7.99 mugs online, I wouldn’t be surprised if they sold out quickly based on their popularity. If you head to your local IKEA and can’t find them in stock, consider this similar option from Zara Home. 

Although the mug from Zara Home doesn’t have the same colorful cup, the handle comes in three colors (pink, green, and orange) and is also microwave- and dishwasher-safe. It’s made of borosilicate, which is a type of durable glass. 

The IKEA SKUGGSTUBB mug is an instant fan favorite and is likely to sell out quickly. Add some color to your glassware cabinet with this expensive-looking cup while you still can.
