There’s so much to love about IKEA, but the lighting section is where the Scandi superstore really shines. There’s the iconic FADO table lamp (which recently dropped in a new color), for example, and the SPETSBOJ lamp that surged to TikTok stardom. It’s an irrefutable fact that IKEA knows how to make design-forward lighting at a doable price. New to the mix is the SOLVINDEN floor lamp, which (unsurprisingly) is gorgeous and looks like something you’d see in a museum, and it’s only $50. I’m calling it now: The SOLVINDEN is the brand’s next “it” lamp.

What Is the IKEA SOLVINDEN Floor Lamp?

As far as I’m concerned, the SOLVINDEN is part lamp and part sculpture. It has an arch-shaped silhouette that brings an architectural edge to any room. The built-in LED bulb casts a warm, mood-setting glow and dims to three settings (strong, medium, and ambient) so you set the vibe you want. Measuring 31 inches tall and 11 inches wide, the floor lamp has a narrow, lightweight body that nestles seamlessly into cramped corners and can be easily moved throughout the house — and even styled in an outdoor space.

Why We’re Into It

For starters, the SOLVINDEN floor lamp encapsulates some of Apartment Therapy editors’ favorite design trends — from the arched shape to the unexpected red colorway. The sculptural arched shape has a strong Scandi-inspired look to me, too, like something you’d see in a design museum. Even still, the lamp is way more versatile than you’d think; it styles as a bold accent in neutral spaces and fits right into rooms done in all-out color.

On top of being sculpturally stylish, the floor lamp’s slim silhouette thrives in small spaces. The oblong base barely requires any floor space, and tucks seamlessly against sofas, in tight corners, next to a bed — anywhere. And judging from the photos online, it casts the coziest warm light. The three brightness settings mean it’s more than decorative — it’s a light you can read or work by, and dim down for intimate gatherings.

The SOLVINDEN floor lamp’s affordable $50 price point is hard to argue with, too. I could see this costing more than quadruple the price in a high-end home store. The fact that you don’t have to purchase a bulb separately is a small but meaningful bonus (savings are savings!). I say it’s only a matter of time before it becomes hard to find, so I’d secure yours before the rest of the internet catches on.
