Get the Look: The Incredibles 2 Mid-Century Super Home

It only took 14 years, but we finally have the superhero film we deserve. The hero being mid-century modern design. Picking up right where the first installment left off, the Parr family is on the forefront of the fight to make superheroes legal again. During that process, they are set up in a mid-century design lover’s dream house. And lucky for you, Zillow created a listing so you can really get a sense of the home’s super features.

While it may be difficult to add interior waterfalls to your home, it is relatively easy to achieve the look with furnishings. First things first, the palette is warm with red playing a major theme (an ode their super suits). If you want to get this look, be bold, be brave, and get yourself a red sofa. In their living room, they have a sunken sofa pit and an L-shaped sectional creating two different conversation areas. If your home is large enough to do this, by all means play with the juxtaposition of a curved sofa and something with a straight back. The focus is on your furniture, so paint your walls off-white/cream/light grey. Any brick can be painted a lighter color and wood can be stained darker, creating a frame. I have not come across many homes with rock formations peppering the interiors, but if that is the case for you, leave those babies natural and wild.

Next, find a great pair of armchairs. Sculptural. Orangey-Red. And place them across from a big, round coffee table. The key here is simplicity and celebrating classic shapes. This allows your big pops of color to look fresh instead of overwhelming. Top off the look with an arc floor lamp and a starburst chandelier to create ambiance.

Finishing touches of potted plants, sculptural vases and objects can pepper your floor and shelves. Keep the material palette here neutral. Creams and taupes will actually pop against mid-tone and dark woods. And depending on how many plants you add, you can kind of create a hideaway, perfect for keeping your secret identity secret.
