Kristen Bell’s Glam Instagram Reel Teased Our New Favorite Design Detail
Kristen Bell attended the Golden Globe Awards earlier this month, where the 45-year-old Veronica Mars icon was nominated for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy TV Series for her role in Netflix’s Nobody Wants This. In classic fashion, Bell took her social media followers along for the ride in the hours leading up to showtime. Alongside husband Dax Shepard, Hollywood’s favorite couple stayed in a hotel suite that has us inspired to use curtains in an entirely new way.
This Curtain Detail Instantly Adds So Much Drama to Any Bedroom
In a brief clip that appears in her BTS Instagram video, Bell films her hotel bed amid a flurry of other vignettes — but the detail caught Apartment Therapy’s editors’ attention. Upon second glance, the bedframe holds drapery curtains styled as a headboard, alongside an oversized valance just above the bed itself.
Where exactly did Bell and Shepard stay, you may ask? The hotel in question is The Peninsula Beverly Hills, and this curtain detail is a staple in most of its rooms — it’s a bit gaudy, very dramatic, and adds softness to the space, as well as a hit of color.
Curtains were actually a huge trend in 2025, with so many people figuring out fresh and exciting ways to use them, including as headboards. The key to re-creating the Peninsula Beverly Hills look is to layer the curtain behind an existing headboard to give any bed a luxurious feel.
These blue and white floral curtains from Anthropologie are similar to the bedroom featured in Bell’s video, and the jacquard weight to them give them that superexpensive look.
And if you really want to go all out, you can add a valance above the bed to really layer on the textures. This waterfall valance and curtain set from Walmart could instantly make your bedroom feel so much more elegant. The white on white curtains are classically chic, but this set comes in so many fun colors you can experiment with, too.
Curtains definitely aren’t just for windows, as Bell’s recent Instagram post proves. Give your bedroom a mini makeover and hang curtains behind your bed — you’ll be hooked!
